About this project
What does Torch & Timber add?
Torch & Timber
**Useful vanilla-friendly upgrades. More control. The Minecraft feel you already love.**
Torch & Timber is a quality-of-life mod for Minecraft Java Edition 1.21.1 on Fabric. It brings practical improvements to everyday survival—organizing items, gathering resources, managing crops, recovering after death, and tuning gameplay details—without turning Minecraft into a completely different game.
Features
Inventory & Storage
- Sort player inventories and supported container screens.
- Keep hotbar contents protected during player inventory sorting.
- Nearby restocking runs server-side, fills matching food stacks, and can replace a damaged tool or piece of equipment with an otherwise identical less-damaged spare from nearby storage.
- Restocking has a short request cooldown to discourage spam. The default key is **G**, configurable in Minecraft's Controls menu.
Tools & Gathering
- **Vein Mining:** Mine connected ores more efficiently.
- **Tree Felling:** Cut down connected logs, with bounded connected-leaf clearing.
- Felling is limited to connected logs of the same block type to help avoid catching adjacent trees of different wood.
- Configure limits for supported gathering features.
Farming & Food
- Right-click crop harvesting and circular hoe-area harvesting.
- Optional replanting using matching items from your inventory.
- Configurable crop growth, bone meal effectiveness, and seed/crop drops.
- Farmland moisture and anti-trampling options.
- Ore auto-smelting through vanilla recipes while respecting Silk Touch.
- Food saturation adjustments.
Survival & Recovery
- Temporary death chests with saved expiration timers.
- Expiry handling respects unloaded chunks and resumes checking when the relevant chunk loads.
- Large inventories use multiple separated chests when necessary, avoiding dropped overflow that could despawn.
- If a safe chest location cannot be found, the mod leaves vanilla's regular inventory-drop behavior intact.
- Choose supported inventory-retention modes: none, all items, tools/weapons, or armor.
- Experience recovery and death-location notifications.
Exploration & Gameplay
- Attraction of nearby dropped items and optional item-despawn prevention.
- Furnace fuel adjustments and campfire protection.
- Adjustable drinkable potion durations and Mending repair efficiency.
- Enchanting power and anvil-cost adjustments.
- Swimming, boat, elytra, and lead-distance adjustments.
- Item-frame rotation and shield-blocking adjustments.
- Selected villager, creeper, and enderman behavior options.
Configuration
