About this project
What does Hordy Zombies add?
Hordy Zombies
**Zombies that think, dig their own nests, raid your base, kidnap villagers and build a tribe of their own.**
Forge 1.20.1 · needed on the client **and** the server · English and Russian · works with OptiFine
Zombies that think
- **They hear you.** Footsteps, building, mining, fights, doors, chests, explosions, the bell. Sneak and walk on wool to stay quiet, or throw a snowball to lure them away.
- **They remember.** Lose them, and they go where you ran and search the place.
- **They call the horde** and **flank you** instead of walking in a line.
- **They climb ladders, break doors, dig under walls they cannot break and build their way up to you.**
- **They hide from the sun** instead of burning.
Special zombies and warriors
The Brute who smashes walls, the Griefer, the Butcher with his meat hook, the Bloater, the Screamer, the Marauder who steals your things, the Sapper, the Spitter, the Water Carrier who puts out your lava moat. And the warriors: the shieldbearer, the swordsman and the **captain** who gives orders, marks you and flies into a rage.
The Blood Moon
Every 7th night the moon turns red: red sky, thick fog, waves of zombies that grow stronger moon after moon, and the mod's own music.
Nests
Zombies dig **fortress nests into the hills**, and the nests grow:
- a gate hall with **traps**, a treasury with a keeper, **mines that never stop**;
- **a forge** where the Blacksmith makes their weapons and armour from the ore they dig and the stations they stole;
- the Butcher's slaughterhouse, an infirmary, a stable, a trophy room with what they took from you, a mushroom farm, a garden and a lumber yard;
- **the HQ**: the captain at the head of the war table, a **hand-drawn map of your base** sketched by their crow scout, and a misspelled **dossier on every player**;
- the **Gramotey**, a small zombie scribe who writes the nest's chronicle and drops a funny diary that tells you where the nest is.
Raids
A nest learns where you live and **raids your base**: a camp in the dark, an assault, a cart train to carry the loot home. Follow the cart to find the nest. The nest **learns** from failed raids.
Crows
Undead crows roost in a dead tree by the nest: they scout your base by day, hunt you in the open at night, snatch shinies into their hollow and peck your crops. Scarecrows, cats, a raised shield and a ringing bell keep them off.
Villages and captives
**The Cowboy** rides out on his zombie horse, whips your weapon out of your hand and leads villagers away on ropes. The captives sit in the nest's pens under the Warden, a lucky few live in the zoo, and after two nights the Warden turns them, keeping their trade. Ambush the column, kill the Warden, break the pen and set them free: you become a Hero of the Village, and the strangers you free settle at your base.
Fair play
- **Absent players are never griefed:** raids only come to a base while its owner is home.
- The mod **never loads chunks** for itself and keeps its work per tick small: server-friendly.
mobGriefingand claim mods are respected; almost everything is in the config./sz helpshows every command and **how to defend yourself**.
