About this project
What does thundercloud add?
ThunderCloud Core is a lightweight visual and utility library for Minecraft 1.20.1 Forge. It conjures colossal, slowly rotating storm clouds with a hollow swirling eye and purple-white lightning crawling across the cloud surface — then leaves the gameplay entirely to you.
The mod only renders and manages the storm: a 3-second spiral formation, a 3-second drifting dissipation with purple particles, distance-based level-of-detail meshes, and a fully hot-reloadable config. It never strikes lightning, deals damage, pushes entities or sets fire on its own. Instead it hands your mod a clean server-side API — spawn a cloud, query every entity beneath it, ask whether a position is covered and how deep inside the storm it sits, then decide for yourself who gets struck and how hard.
Built for addon developers. The cloud entity is damage-immune, unselectable and non-colliding, requires no renderer registered on your side, and supports custom cloud types defined directly in clouds.json. Formation and dissipation timing is synced from the server, so animations stay consistent in multiplayer.
**Requirements:** Forge 47.3.5 or newer on both client and server. Please download this jar separately — do not bundle it inside your own mod.
