About this project

What does Hush Mortem add?

Hush Mortem

When a mob dies, the sounds it was still making stop with it.

  • The enderman's stare no longer wails on after the enderman is gone.
  • A creeper killed mid-fuse stops hissing.
  • A pillager killed while loading its crossbow stops fumbling with it.

The mob's own death sound still plays - you may mute that one in the config, too. Everything else it was making is cut off.

Details

  • Client-side only. Servers do not need it, and it works on any server.
  • Fabric Loader 0.19.5 or newer, Java 25. Fabric API is not required.
  • One jar for Minecraft 26.1.2, 26.2 and 26.3.

Configuration

config/hushmortem.properties is created on first start.

Key Default Meaning
keep_death_sound true false silences the death sound as well.
