About this project

What does Natural Slabs Mod add?

Work in progress mod. The Goal is to allow for natural generated slabs to fir in with a wider range of blocks across the games landscape creating a smoother more organic feel without loosing the voxel blockieness.

Adds in the following slab Blocks:

  • Grass Slab
  • Dirt Slab
  • Coarse Dirt Slab
  • Grass Path Slab
  • Farmland Slabs
  • Sand Slabs

All the slab version of blocks should function similar to there full block counter part; grass slab blocks can spread grass to other nearby dirt and dirt slab and sustain plants, dirt slab blocks can turn into grass slabs if within close proximity to grass or grass slabs & if properly lit, and Farmland slabs can sustain crops. (And farmland slabs tops can be waterlogged, which will count as a hydration source for itself and all nearby farmland and farmland slabs.)

All Slab variants can be crafted using three respected full blocks horizontally similar to normal slab, and should yield a total of six slabs. Alternatively these slabs can be crafted without a crafting table, using two of the respected blocks horizontally to yield a total of four slabs blocks. All the dirt base slab blocks can be placed ontop of each other and will result in creating a full block based which ever type of block was the top slab used.

Adds in the following stair Blocks:

  • Grass Stairs
  • Dirt Stairs
  • Coarse Dirt Stair
  • Path Stairs

These blocks operate very closely to their full sized block counterpart. Grass can grow from the Stair Grass Block to any of the dirt based blocks, and grass can grow to the dirt stair block from any of the other grass based blocks. You can only place plants of top of these blocks if they are upside down providing you a flat surface. These blocks can all be hoed and turned into farmland slab block based on which way up the block was placed. When Coarse Dirt Stair are hoed they will first be turned into just normal Dirt Stair Blocks.

All of these blocks can be crafting using the traditional stair crafting shaped done on a crafting table requiring six of the same blocks which will yield four stair blocks. Additionally you can also be crafted without a crafting table, in the player inventory screen making a smaller stair shape with three full blocks which yielding only two stair blocks.

Blocks added that work in conjunction with slab blocks:

  • Beetroot Crop Slabs
  • Carrot Crop Slabs
  • Potato Crop Slabs
  • Wheat Crop Slabs
  • Sugarcane Slabs
  • Mushroom Slabs
  • Grass & Fern Slabs
  • Flowers slabs
  • Tall Flower Slabs
  • Sapling Slabs
  • Fence Blocks (currently only oak)
  • Sweetberrybushes

Other features:

  • Bonemeal allows for flowers and grass to be grown on slab grass blocks just as with normal grass blocks.
  • Sunflower blocks have had a rework so that players can place them to face any direction allowing for more interesting decoration options.
  • Snow blocks can be placed on top of slabs and staircases blocks by either the player or the weather.
  • Fence Blocks can now be placed on slabs and will connect to their none slab counter parts.

Want the giant blue glowing mushrooms? Check out the extended mushroom mod.

Want lanterns that can be placed on slabs and the fence slabs? Check out my other mod Torch Slabs.

To Do list:

  • Working World Generation that includes all the slab blocks.
  • Working Weather snow to include snow for slabs and stairs. Still want to tinker around with weather.
  • All other fences working with slabs.
  • Adding other things to the TODO list.
