logo

Wizardry - Fates is a tiny (but very impactful on gameplay) addon mod for Electroblob's Wizardry. It adds the concept of element Disciplines - each player can have one or more of these elemental masteries.

Looking for a server to play with your friends?

Now with Reskillable support! Make your spell power (Potency) grow with your Reskillable Magic skill!

Players can only cast spells with wands from their own Discipline (their own elemental mastery), other spells are only castable via spell scrolls (can be disabled in config). Since v2.0.0 you can also tier cap the non-discipline spells, allowing anyone to use e.g. every novice spells, regardless of its element.

The purpose of this mod is to increase the roleplay immersion of the Electroblob's Wizardry mod by forcing players to specialize in one (or more) elements.

This can be useful for roleplay servers or players in singleplayer mode as well. For example, you can play through a survival world as a certain elemental wizard, e.g. Earth Mage, having a much different gameplay experience than having access to the whole arsenal of every spells.

How to start playing

This mod was created with the goal of being as flexible as possible, fitting RPG servers and SSP worlds as well. This means that you might need to tweak the settings first to fit it to your needs, but every feature of the mod is configurable!

Some possible ideas to play with this mod, depending on your settings and needs:

A) Already have an extensive RPG server with classes or planning to build one? You can fine-tune every feature of Fates to integrate Electroblob's Wizardry into your pack better. Allow players to choose one (or more) disciplines, or one main, and one or more tier-capped sub-disciplines. Disable spellcasting for non-wizard classes with the /setmagicless command if you want.

C) Building a quest mod pack? You can disable the Book of Fates and Discipline Scroll looting. Build an extensive path or quest line using mods like Better Questing which can reward the player with a Discipline Scroll (or the Book of Fates)! This allows you to create an immersive path for players to become wizards.

D) Enable the Book of Fates and choose your discipline at the beginning of the game. Gain mastery over all the elements by gathering Scrolls of Discipline. (SSP fitting)

E) Enable the random Discipline Scroll in the Bonus Chest and start with a random element. Gain mastery over all the elements by gathering Scrolls of Discipline (SSP fitting)

F) Enable the Book of Fates and choose your discipline at the beginning of the game and play a challenge game where you can only use one element (but you can use scrolls of all elements if you enable it in the config) (SSP fitting)

G) ... many more possible combinations via the configs

If you are playing an SSP (Survival Single Player), I'd recommend you to enable the Book of Fates item in the settings and the Discipline Scroll looting. This way the first time you start a new world (or login), you'll receive the Book of Fates which allows you to choose your discipline, and you can eventually gather all the other elements as you explore and find more Scrolls of Disciplines.
