The Last Lanterns

The Roadkeepers once kept bread for strangers and a light above every door. Enna's camp ledger tells of six lanterns carried underground, and a sealed vessel brought back to the surface. Its shadow fell toward the flame. Now their buildings stand along forgotten roads, with some of their last orders still being followed.

Rev's Better Structures 2.0 adds 20 structures to the Overworld: six dungeons, ten waystations and four smaller discoveries. You might find a roof for the night, a deserted workplace, or a fortress that needs a much longer visit.

Places worth going inside

The Rootbound Cloister has a tree breaking through its chapel roof and a connected crypt beneath the grounds. A broad staircase leads under the Buried Reservoir into its two-tank gallery. The Ashen Foundry has furnace sheds, quenching yards and an overhead gantry. Farther along, the Sunken Archive, Ember Watch and Last Lantern Keep complete the dungeon roster.

Smaller stops have their own lives behind them. Look through the map room at the Surveyors Lodge, walk the Mossbound Aqueduct's inspection path, or search the beds and medicine shelves of the Roadkeeper Infirmary. Furnished kitchens and workrooms give you a reason to open the next door.

The mod has five custom mobs. Lantern Sentinels commit to a frontal sweep, Rootbound Keepers mark the ground before a slam, and Cinderbound warn before a narrow heat burst. The Castellan sweeps three sectors in sequence. Move out of the warning or use solid cover, then answer while their armor is lowered during recovery.

Lantern Moths are passive residents that seek working lamps and braziers. You can calm them with honeycomb. Cold Keeper's Lanterns can be rekindled with a Lantern Fragment, leaving real light in a room that had gone dark.

Use the Surveyor's Lens to sense nearby inscriptions, then read them directly into your Field Journal. Six chapters follow the Roadkeepers' hospitality, their expedition and the efforts to contain what they found. Read them in any order. The story is optional, and your notes survive death even if you lose the journal.

Bring something home

There are 13 custom blocks and 14 recipes, including furniture, storage shelves, lantern windows and roof finials. Finding a journal teaches the recipes through Minecraft's normal recipe book. The Foundry Hammer gives you a slow weapon with a charged knockback, and the Seal of the Last Keeper is a trophy to bring home.
