About this project

What does Modest Magic add?

A magic overhaul focusing on a new enchanting system.

The Altar and Pedestals:

The Altar is this mod's alternative for the Enchanting Table. When surrounded by Pedestals, it can be used for various magical recipes.

Both blocks can be placed in any direction, and will connect to themselves.

Recipe Types:

The Altar, alongside the Pedestals, can be used to perform 3 recipe types, each with different outcomes. Each recipe type will require a single item to be placed on an Altar, as well as various items to be placed on Pedestals near the Altar.

Infusing recipes will create a brand new item, Enchanting recipes will enchant the item on the Altar with specific enchantments, and Summoning recipes will summon an entity on the Altar.

A recipe can be crafted by sneaking + right clicking the Altar, or activating it with a Redstone pulse.

All 3 recipe types are all data-driven, with various options such as consuming the base item, altering summoned entities' data, randomizing enchantments, etc.

Enchanting Tablets:

Enchanting Tablets are this mod's alternative for Enchanted Books.

They can be created through Altar Infusing, and applied to valid items on a Smithing Table.

Tablets will enchant items with as many possible enchantments from their available pool as possible, for exactly one level each.

Each tablet represents and allows for the application of one or more enchantments:

Aquatic - Aqua Affinity, Depth Strider & Impaling

Cyclic - Sweeping Edge & Riptide

Everlasting - Unbreaking

Flinging - Knockback, Punch & Wind Burst

Glacial - Respiration & Frost Walker

Hallowed - Smite & Channeling

Haunted - Soul Speed & Swift Sneak

Heavy - Blast Protection & Density

Infested - Bane of Arthropods

Recollection - Infinity, Multishot & Loyalty

Swift - Efficiency, Quick Charge & Lure

Fiery - Fire Aspect, Flame & Fire Protection

Light - Silk Touch & Feather Falling

Lucky - Fortune, Looting & Luck of the Sea

Serrated - Sharpness & Thorns

Puncturing - Power, Piercing, Projectile Protection & Breach

Enduring - Mending & Curse of Vanishing

Secure - Protection, Curse of Binding

Recipe Viewing:

It is recommended that you use EMI to view the recipes in this mod.

All Altar recipe types and Smithing recipes can be seen using it.

Altar recipes show a rotating wheel of all the ingredients, the amount of Pedestals required, and the output item.
