About

Colors are such curious things. Their vibrance, their meanings, the way they make up the world around us.

Don't they make you want to grasp out at them - at the color itself - to understand their essence?

It can be done, but the path is long if not endless.

...

Pastel is a full-feature magic mod centered around the exploration of color as resonance, as natural energy. It is a long, expansive journey through the path of the artist that sees you not just learning, but discovering more about the land; explore the world and see it grow alongside you and see things that were not there before. Pursue the meaning of the rainbow, of nature, and create new and powerful tools as your newfound comprehension allows you to make yet finer works. Make striking machines and from them assemble contraptions fit to support your march towards the heart of magic. And once you begin to believe you understand the lands and their essence, descend past the earth's false floor.

Descend past the barrier at the foot of the world, the bedrock, and in the final chapter discover a world forgotten, a world left behind.

Descend past the veil, and find in deepest abyss the truth desired. The color itself.

FAQ + Links

Do you have compat with X mod?

As of right now, Pastel is a young mod so the list of things we integrate with is rather quaint. Of note, we have integration with Create, Xycraft, Malum, alongside some other mods. We would be happy to have more inter-mod compatibility so if you have any suggestions feel free to hop into our discord and have a chat with us about it!

What is next for the mod?

We are most likely already working on 2.0 as you read this. The update will come with a great deal of new content as well as a lot of reworks - you can look forward to Ink Networking, an Overhaul for Earlygame, a brand new set of Preservation Structures, new Tools, more Polish, many many more things.

Will you support Fabric?

No.

Can I make an addon for Pastel?

Of course! Feel free to create content for and generally surrounding the mod. If you feel any part of our API is lacking, or you want some clarifications on the themes of the mod feel free to talk with us about it, we would be eager to help

Dedication

Azzyypaaras, the creator, lead developer, and artist behind Pastel tragically passed away on August 4th, 2025. She was our friend, a brilliant designer and developer, and someone who will be dearly missed. We decided to dedicate Pastel, her passion project, in her honor. She meant a lot to us, and the team will do everything it can to carry out the vision she laid out.

Pastel, in memory of Azzyypaaras. "Modding is nice, but not if it engenders bad game design". "Art need not be limited to sprites and models, the game's code offers a bottomless wealth of possibility". "The only way one could see something as truly perfect is to be delusional or stupid". "There is a point and a place for nothing the struggle, and also one for more harsh critique. But ultimately, we are here with the goal of creating something beautiful"
