About this project

What does MezzConfig add?

MezzConfig is a lightweight configuration library for Minecraft mods on Fabric, Forge, and NeoForge. It gives mod developers one API for managing client preferences, settings for individual worlds and servers, and server-controlled options synchronized to connected players.

Features include:

  • Different config types: shared client preferences, per-world or per-server client settings, and server-owned configuration.
  • Modpack defaults: pack authors can provide defaults while allowing players and worlds to override individual settings.
  • Validated configuration: built-in support for numbers, text, colors, enums, lists, and custom value types.
  • Responsive updates: change listeners and restart requirements let mods apply settings at the right time.
  • Automatically detect file updates: changes to config files are applied in-game.
  • Migration and recovery: tools to preserve existing settings when mods change their config names, locations, or formats.

Mod developers can find setup instructions and API examples on Github.
