Timbershriek adds one relentless forest predator to Minecraft — and the only thing that summons him is the sound of your own axe. Fell a log, dawn or midnight, and he may already be threading toward you through the trees. He shrieks, he hunts, and he does not stop until you're dead or gone.

What he does

• Answers the axe — every log you break is a gamble. Cut wood, day or night, and he may already be moving toward you. Only Creative and Spectator keep you off the menu.
• Runs you down — quicker than a jog, he wades straight through rivers and climbs whatever you hide behind. Sprint flat-out and you might open a gap. Might.
• Sounds wrong — a shriek that never should have come from wood, splintering hits, a dull thunk when your axe fails against him, and a death cry that drags.
• Wooden tools are useless — he shrugs off every wooden weapon. Bring stone or better, or bring nothing.
• Gnarled Heartwood — put him down and he leaves one behind: a knot of something older than the forest, still warm. Worth four furnace smelts.
• Your forest, your odds — set the log-break spawn chance and pick Easy, Normal, or Hard from the in-game Timbershriek menu.
