About this project
What does Rot Timer add?
Rot Timer — Survive Smarter
Every bite counts. Fresh foods spoil quickly, barrels extend their life, and canned meals are the ultimate survival choice.
Features
Food Spoilage System
All edible food in your inventory will eventually spoil and turn into Rotten Flesh. The spoil timer starts the moment food enters your inventory.
- Base spoil time: 48,000 ticks (~2 in-game days)
- Only triggers server-side — no client lag
- Stacks of the same food share the oldest spoil timestamp
Temperature System
Biome temperature directly affects how fast food decays:
| Biome | Effect |
|---|---|
| Cold (tundra, snow biomes) | Food lasts 4× longer |
| Cool (taiga, mountains) | Food lasts 1.33× longer |
| Normal (plains, forest) | No change |
| Hot (desert, nether) | Food spoils 2× faster |
Plan your routes wisely — hauling food through the Nether is a gamble.
Barrel & Chest Storage
Place food in barrels to double its shelf life. Chests also slow spoilage. Containers near players are automatically scanned for spoilage — no redstone or manual triggers needed.
Configuration
A Rottimer.toml config file is generated on first launch. Server admins and modpack creators can customize everything:
[general]
base_spoil_ticks = 48000 # Ticks before food spoils
container_scan_interval = 200 # How often to scan containers
container_scan_radius = 4 # Scan radius around player
[multipliers]

chest = 1.0 # Chest storage multiplier
tinkan = 5.0 # Canned food multiplier
