HyperBeta
A mod that overhauls Release 1.6.4 to turn it into the ultimate minecraft version. Based on the mechanics and visuals of beta 1.7.3 it directly ports parts of beta and improves upon them. Even has b1.7.3 world gen with newer vanilla biomes and structures!

About this project
What does HyperBeta add?
DEVELOPMENT ON PAUSE TILL OCTOBER DUE TO EXAMS! :(
This mod is a Jar Mod.
HyperBeta is a Jar Mod for Minecraft 1.6.4 that backports the core gameplay loop,
world generation, and aesthetic style of Beta 1.7.3, while keeping the game beatable and
optimizing performance.
By removing the internal server layer in singleplayer and optimizing rendering, HyperBeta
delivers a lag-free classic experience with modern conveniences.
- Default Beta 1.7.3 World Generation -
• Identical Terrain: The default world generation has been replaced with the original Beta 1.
7.3 noise generation. Classic seeds like Glacier and the 404 challenge generate exactly
as they did in Beta.
• Modern Integration: Strongholds and modern biomes still generate seamlessly, allowing you
to access modern resources and defeat the Ender Dragon.
- Classic Health & Rebalanced Food -
• No Hunger Bar: Reverts to the classic health system. Food directly restores hearts instead
of filling a hunger bar.
• Modern Eating Animation: Retained the modern eating animation for visual feedback.
• Stacked Food Balancing: Food can still be stacked in your inventory, but healing is
controlled by a tick-based cooldown to prevent spam-eating from being overpowered.
- Retro HUD, Textures, & Sounds -
• Original Assets: Classic Beta 1.7.3 textures and sound effects are fully integrated.
• Animated EXP Bar: The experience bar features unique hiding and unhiding animations to keep
your HUD looking as close to Beta 1.7.3 as possible.
• Extra Video Settings: Render distance now a slider, new option to toggle beta style fog, off, fast, fancy.
- Under-the-Hood Optimizations -
• Internal Server Bypass: Singleplayer mode bypasses the internal server loop introduced in
Minecraft 1.3. This eliminates network serialization lag and micro-stutters, restoring tick-
perfect local gameplay.
• Optimized Lighting: Includes backported lighting calculations to reduce performance spikes
during block updates.
- Fixes & Stability -
• Creative Mode Targeting Fix: Legay AI mobs (Zombie Pigmen, Spiders, Endermen, and
Silverfish) now respect Creative Mode. They will no longer turn aggressive or target you when
punched.
• Crash Resolution: Fixed various singleplayer-only bugs, including client-server custom
packet NullPointerException s, uninitialized dummy player references, and unsafe class
reflections.
• Fast leaves decay, enchantment descriptions added for convenience.
