About this project

What does Compacting add?

Compacting

An intelligent compact chat mod for Fabric, inspired by the behavior of same feature from Patcher.

Instead of having a few dozen separate chat messages consisting of the same message, this mod compacts them into one message with a counter showing the amount of times that the message was repeated.

Why Compacting?

This differs from other mods like Chat Patches and Compact Chat in a few ways:

  • It does one thing, and aims to do that one thing well
  • Messages are compacted based on how long ago they were last seen, instead of by comparing nearby chat messages
  • It correctly handles dividers sent across multiple chat messages (like the ones sent by Hypixel):
Image: The chat messages between the dividers are compacted, while preserving the dividers

Configuration

If both Mod Menu and YACL are installed, the mod provides a few configuration options to control when a message should be compacted, as well as an optional setting to remove blank chat messages.
