About this project
What does InventoryWizard add?
Press R and your inventory sorts itself. ✨
InventoryWizard sorts your inventory, hotbar and containers in one click. Blocks end up with blocks, tools with tools and food with food, stacks merge, and your hotbar is ready for survival with weapons and tools up front. Modded items work too.
✨ Features
- Smart sorting. Items are grouped by kind (stone, wood, ores, tools, weapons, food, ...) and then by name, so related items sit together.
- A hotbar built for survival. Weapons and tools go first, where you reach for them.
- Stacks merge cleanly. Partial stacks are combined, but enchanted or renamed items are never merged into plain ones.
- Three sort modes:
- Default: grouped by kind, then by name
- Alphabetical: A to Z by name
- Stack-based: A to Z, largest stacks first, without merging
- Sort buttons next to the inventory, chest and shulker box titles, plus a button to switch modes.
- Locked slots. Alt+Click a hotbar or inventory slot and sorting will never move it. Handy for your sword, torches or food.
- Scroll to adjust a held stack. After picking up a stack, scroll up to take one more item from its slot or down to put one back. This works on any server, plugin or not.
- Works with your inventory, hotbar, chests, trapped chests, barrels, shulker boxes, ender chests, and chest minecarts and boats.
🎮 How to use
| Action | What it does |
|---|---|
R or Shift+Right Click in any inventory |
Sort it |
| Click the sort button by the screen title | Sort that inventory or container |
| Alt+Click a slot | Lock or unlock it |
| Scroll while holding a stack | Take or return one item |
Both keys can be rebound in Controls. Every option, from sort mode to sound to which containers can be sorted, is in the settings screen (open it through Mod Menu on Fabric/Quilt, or the Mods list on NeoForge/Forge).
🌐 Singleplayer and servers
- Singleplayer and LAN: just install the mod. It also works in LAN worlds you host.
- Servers: install the Paper plugin on the server (Paper and Spigot 1.21+). Every player can then sort with Shift+Right Click and
/iwiz, with no mod needed. Players who do have the mod get the sort key and buttons as well, and they show up automatically.
Server commands: /iwiz sorts, /iwiz container sorts the container you have open, /iwiz mode switches modes, and /iwiz lock locks slots.
📦 Compatibility
- Minecraft 1.21 through 26.3
- Loaders: Fabric, Quilt, NeoForge and Forge. Fabric and Quilt also need Fabric API.
- Server plugin: Paper and Spigot 1.21+
- Client-side. You don't need it on a server unless you want server sorting, and then the server needs the plugin, not the mod.
