1.0.1. Change the file and its required mods may change too.

All 1 required mods have matching files

Install Material Needs: Geology first. We found matching files for this game-version and loader setup. 2 come through another mod in the chain.

2 extra mods were pulled in by other dependencies. Indented rows show who needs each one. We only count dependency files that match this setup. A file for another loader does not fill the gap.

About this project

What does kris-patch-mngeology add?

A one-line fix for the Material Needs: Geology mod (mngeology).

What it fixes

Every time the server starts it prints four lines like this:

[Warning] Deposit game:worldgen/deposits/metalore/iron.json: No block with code/wildcard
'game:ore-*-limonite-tufa' was found (unresolved code: game:ore-*-limonite-{rock})
[Warning] Deposit game:worldgen/deposits/metalore/iron.json: AllowedVariantsByInBlock for
game:ore-*-limonite-tufa does not match any block! Please fix
... and the same pair again for game:ore-*-limonite-serpentinite

Material Needs: Geology tells the game that limonite (the ore you get iron nuggets from) can be found inside tufa and serpentinite rock, but it never adds the actual limonite-in-tufa and limonite-in-serpentinite ore blocks. So the game looks for an ore that doesn't exist, shrugs, and complains. It's a slip in one of the mod's own files: the list of host rocks for limonite got pasted in from a different ore.

This patch removes those two rocks from limonite's host-rock list, which is all it takes for the warnings to stop.

Do you need it?

Only if your server runs Material Needs: Geology and you'd like a clean startup log. The warnings are harmless, they cost you nothing but four lines of noise per restart.

How to install

  1. Put the mod file in your server's Mods folder.
  2. Restart the server.

No configuration needed.

Please note: this is a server-only mod. It isn't sent to players and doesn't need to be, because world generation happens entirely on the server. Don't put it in the ModsByServer folder on a player's computer.

Requirements

  • Vintage Story 1.22 or newer
  • Material Needs: Geology (the mod this fixes). It's listed as a requirement, so if that mod isn't installed this one simply won't load.
  • Works with or without Geology Additions installed.

Good to know

  • It changes nothing in your world. Limonite already never generated in tufa or serpentinite, the game skips any host rock it can't find an ore block for, which is exactly why it was warning in the first place. Every rock limonite really does spawn in is untouched: basalt, shale and chert from the base game, rhyolite and mudstone from Geology Additions, and arenite, marl, wacke, monzonite and syenite from Material Needs: Geology.
  • Nothing is added, no new blocks are registered, and nothing is written to your save. Ore already in the ground is unaffected, and so is the prospecting pick.
  • Safe to remove at any time. It's a single settings tweak read at startup, take it out and the warnings come back, and nothing else changes.
  • Remove it once Material Needs: Geology ships a proper fix, otherwise it would hold limonite back from any new host rock a future version adds.

Under the hood, for the curious

The culprit is mn-ore-graded-allowances.json inside Material Needs: Geology 2.0.10. It contains three near-identical blocks of edits aimed at entry /0 of game:worldgen/deposits/metalore/iron.json, the limonite deposit, and the middle block is a copy of a different ore's rock list, appending serpentinite and tufa to limonite's host rocks (and grade entries to match). The mod's own loose-ore list gives limonite only arenite, marl, wacke, monzonite and syenite, which confirms the other two were never meant to be there. At startup DiscDepositGenerator.Init walks every rock block the deposit allows and asks DepositBlock.Resolve for the matching ore; for tufa and serpentinite it comes back empty and logs both warnings. GenDeposit then checks Blocks.Length before placing anything, so the only real consequence is the log noise. This patch replaces the host rock list with the same list minus those two, the grade entries left behind under allowedVariantsByInBlock are simply never consulted once the rock is gone, so they're left alone rather than risking a second edit that could fail if load order ever shifts.
