Wapiti Tow Carts

Wapiti Tow Carts is an addon for Cartwright's Caravan that turns tamed wapiti into proper draft animals capable of pulling large cargo carts.

Attach a cart to your wapiti and head out on long expeditions, move supplies between settlements, or establish proper trade routes. The more cargo you carry, however, the harder the journey becomes.

Cargo Carts

The mod adds two cargo carts designed specifically for tamed wapiti:

• Wide Wapiti Cargo Cart — 72 storage slots, 12 × 6 inventory.
• Narrow Wapiti Cargo Cart — 36 storage slots, 12 × 3 inventory.

Both are based on existing carts from Cartwright's Caravan. The original Cartwright's Caravan cart entities are not replaced.

Dynamic Load System

A cargo cart is not a bottomless backpack.

Load is calculated from the number of occupied inventory slots, not stack size. This keeps the system consistent for both vanilla and modded items.

• An empty cart has no effect on wapiti movement speed.
• The animal becomes progressively slower as the cart fills.
• A completely filled cart reduces wapiti movement speed by approximately 35%.
• Intermediate loads scale linearly.

Carrying Carts Yourself

A cart can be removed from the animal and carried in the player's inventory, but its cargo still matters.

• An empty cart causes no movement penalty.
• Movement becomes progressively slower as more slots are occupied.
• A total carried load of 100% reduces walking speed to zero.
• Loads from multiple carried carts are cumulative.

For example, two carts filled to 50% each produce the same burden as one completely full cart.

Wapiti Attachment

Cargo carts are equipped directly onto a tamed wapiti using its rear equipment slot.

Carts and saddlebags are mutually exclusive. They cannot be equipped at the same time. Saddles, saddle blankets and other independent equipment remain in their own slots.

Stable Cart Positioning

The addon uses a special static WTC_StaticTowAnchor in the wapiti model. This prevents the long cart model from inheriting the normal swaying motion of the animal's central animated bones while walking, breathing and running.

Both carts are also calibrated for height, lateral alignment and distance behind the animal to keep the wheels near ground level and reduce clipping with the wapiti's hindquarters and legs during fast movement.

Crafting

To convert a standard Cartwright's Caravan cart into a wapiti cargo cart, you will need:

• the corresponding wide or narrow Cartwright's Caravan cart;
• 1 rope;
• a standard wapiti bridle.

The recipes are shapeless.

Important

Cargo is stored directly inside the cart item. Empty your carts before removing the mod or performing major updates.

The wheels are currently part of the accessory model and do not have independent physics or wheel rotation.
