About this project

What does Lumos add?

This mod is a comprehensive set of changes to block light and partial sunlight.

1) Directional Light.

Vanilla block light worked like a liquid, allowing it to spread in all directions without control. Now, each light source emits light in a sphere, illuminating everything the beam hits. Each beam can bounce off a surface once. Each beam takes into account the absorption of blocks and their material. Glass and liquids transmit most of the light and reflect some. Other materials can reflect light like a matte surface. This takes into account chiseled blocks and their transmission along each axis.

2) Bug fixes

This mod also fixes a bunch of bugs found in the vanilla game. You can find more details here.

This mod puts a slightly higher CPU load than vanilla lighting. When measuring when mass-enabled lighting in the Archive, it will take four times longer. It's important to understand that lighting is only recalculated after placing or breaking blocks or light sources.

Light sources you've placed will have to be reinstalled, as their light is already "baked" into the chunk. Likewise, lighting in merchants and story locations may be baked and will only update when blocks or light changes.

When working with numerical blocks, lighting is not automatically recalculated. You must manually reposition any blocks or light sources nearby.

Automatically compatible with Stratum
