About this project
What does Middle Click to Stow add?
Ever try to shift-click a torch from your backpack to your hotbar, only to discover that the torch instead sent itself to a firepit and has burned itself up? Cause I have. A lot. I lose so many torches this way.
This mod patches the ItemSlot class to add a new behavior: if you middle-click a slot that has an item in it, the game will try and move that item stack to a different inventory on your person. This is just like the shift-click behavior, except that the item will never go to an external inventory, even if you left a chest (or firepit) open somewhere. The player actually carries three "inventories" with them: the main hotbar, the backpack slots, and the contents of your backpacks. So, if you want to:
- Move your torches from your inventory to your hotbar so you can light a fire with them
- Move your torches from your hotbar back to your inventory, afterwards
- Declutter your hotbar when you've still got free slots in your backpack
- Move an empty backpack from your backpack slots to your hotbar, like to pick up a populated skep
- Move the empty reed chest from your backpack slot back to your inventory, after releasing a critter
- Quickly stow the item equipped in your offhand without having to free up or switch to an empty hotbar slot
...just middle click!
