About this project
What does Dyed Armor add?
While technically speaking you can make dyed armor in the game at some degree, with it being the "Tailored Gambeson armor", this armor set ends up being locked being the Tailor trait, exclusive to the Tailor class, which pretty much doesn't allow you to get said armor unless you either play as a Tailor, have a friend that is Tailor or if you disable the exclusive class recipes, which sucks to be honest. And not only that, but even if you do actually have acess to these recipes, you are limited to only being able to craft Tailored Gambeson and its colorful variants, but no access to either dye the regular gambeson, the leather armor and as an interesting case, the brigandine armor.
But fear not! As with his mod, you can have the regular gambeson, leather armor and as an special case the brigandine armor sets with all dyed variants for you to choose!
As for the brigandine inclusion, it comes with a simple logic in mind, historically brigandine armor itself not only was a selected option because of its simplicity and cheap cost of manufacturing, but also it had the great advantage of it being customized at will, being this basically adding colors into it, so given that the ingame brigandine already has regular leather in most of its surface, why not include it too? This might be the best option for the brigandine enthusiastists (me included)
To craft each dyed armor set you basically use the same recipe as the vanilla counterpart, with the only exception being the brigandine, as there is no dyed jerking armor for it, but instead you use the same a mount of leather in its place; as for the gambeson it is basically the same recipe as the tailored gambeson but without tailoring kits of course.
Combatibiliy:
- Combat Overhaul (huge thanks to Alodh for helping me out with the patch!)
- Planned changes in the future:
- Merge/Compatibility with Alternative armor designs for brigandine and feathered chain/plate helmets.
- Barrel recipes to soak armor in dye.
This is my first mod in the game, and I mainly did it for my personal use.
Also I want to mention DanaCraluminum for its huge help for optimization in the code and the many others that help me out to make this mod possible.
If you have any suggestions for the textures or such leave a comment here, I'll try to keep an eye on it.
If you want to contact me, do it through either the Discord server or DM, I have no issues whatosever.
