About this project

What does Weapon Pack Alpha - Rebalanced add?

To clarify, I'm not the original author but a humble player that enjoys this mod and its content but took its take to modify it for personal use. All credits go to the genius Mr1k3 for this beautiful mod, and also the version used as a "patched" version in particular was made by filip, as he took the time to make an unofficial version for the newer updates to make it work properly, though the contents were untouched until now.

Mr1k3's version: Weapon Pack Alpha

filip's version: Weapon Pack Alpha Unofficial

As for this edition, here might be some changes that you might love or hate when compared to the original.

As I personally do not play PvP, I just focused on the PvE aspect for this mod in particular, so all weapons and recipes in it are balanced in such a way it fits into the base game without being too disruptive, and by that I don't only mean that the weapons end up being either too broken or weak, but that they can be seen as alternative options to the original weapons available within the game, these being crafted Falx swords, spears, clubs and scrap weapons, so can get to choose which weapon fits the most for your gamestyle, preference and needs.

As another point to take, many of the adjustments I've made for all the weapons differ from the original mod as it had an old code that modified the attack speed of each weapon, which allowed them to had differend DPS, this is no longer the case so I had to remove that and modify it the best I could.

There is also the possibility to make this mod compatible with the Combat Overhaul and Armory mods for that purpose, but I still have to learn how to do that properly, in the mean time this is all I can offer for now.

Content added and removed:

-Added Iron, Meteoric iron and Steel version of : Khopesh, Spatha and Epsilon axe.

-Added Smithing recipe for Khopesh.

-Removed Copper version of Tachi.

- Added two new weapons: Machete (bushknife's spiritual ancestor) and Battleaxe (War axe knockoff)

Modified items: (some of these are also available in higher tier materials)

Stone age weapons:
Obsidian Macuahuitl: Increased damage to 10; Reduced durability to 20.
Flint Macuahuitl: Reduced durability to 40.
Bone club: Reduced durability to 80; Reduced damage to 2; Now it counts as a Club.
Calacula: Increased range to 2.5; damage and durability are tied to the wood used to make it.
Bone trident: Reduced range to 3; Reduced damage to 1.6; Reduced durability to 75. Reasoning: As bones are pretty abundant in contrast with flints at the early game, it literally makes up for the best stone age weapon you can have around, now its power is more balanced compared to vanilla spears.
Lead club: Reduced range to 2; Reduced damage to 2.5; Reduced durability to 200. Now it basically works like a craftable version of the Scrap Mace.
Throwing spear: (Rework/Nerf) Greatly reduced ranged damage up to 4 times its original value; projectiles now have normal physics as with vanilla spears, but with slightly better range and speed; Adjusted recipes to avoid mass producing gigantic amounts of fletchings and javelin heads; Reduced stack size of Javelins to 35; Removed behavior to allow it to be rackable as I found it redundant (this can be changed if there is demand for it)

Copper age weapons:

Bush knife: Reduced tool speed by a roughly 50%, durability reduced just enough so it has 40%-60% more durability than the vanilla knife.

War hammer: Reduced damage and range, in exchange its durability has been increased.

Chakri: Rework: now it doesn't stack and instead it has durability; melee range reduced to 1.5; now it is the weakest but most durable ranged weapon; reduced smithing recipe output to 1 item. Now it cannot be put in the tool rack, as objectively speaking, it wouldn't fit there. (now it cannot be forged directly)

Mambele: Reduced melee range and durability; now it has the highest ranged damage of all.

Katar: Reduced damage and durability. Removed range entirely. In exchange it can now attack very fast. (now it cannot be forged directly)

Spiked dagger: Increased its damage slighlty in bronze versions, increased durability in general. (now it cannot be forged directly, it needs to be crafted with rope)

Spontoon: Reduced damage and its durability, now it is equivalent to a regular spear but with better stats and a longer range.

Epsilon axe: Increased damage slighlty compared to the Falx sword, but at the same time reduced its durability and range. (Now available in iron, meteoric iron and steel)

Khopesh: Lower damage than the Falx sword, but now it has 30-50% more durability in comparison. Now it can be Smithed ( Now available in iron, meteoric iron, and steel); (now it cannot be smithed/casted directly, it needs to be crafted)

Bronze age weapons:

Spatha: Slighlty more range than the Falx sword, has slighlty less damage, durability and attack tier in comparison. (Now vailable in iron, meteoric iron, and steel)

War pick: Reduced its range, damage and durability, works as a more damaging version of the war hammer, as it also has higher damage tier.

Tachi:  Rework; Reduced its durability by a drastic amount; In excange it has a high amount of damage, making it a deadly but disposable. (Removed copper version)

Naginata: Rework; Identical approach as the Tachi, however this weapon has slightly more damage and range, but even worse durability

Iron age weapons:

Bastard sword: Slight increase in damage and range. (now it requires 2 ingots worth in total)

RapierHeavily nerfed: Damage reduced from more than half of the original, reduced a little its durability, effective range is still the same. (now it requires 2 ingots worth in total)

War axe: Increased damage, durability and rage by a great amount compared to the Falx sword,  in exchange it requires 2 ingots to forge its head.

Igorot axe: Damage increased by a huge amount, durability reduced and range increased slighltly. (Now this bears the 3rd most damaging weapon, behind Macuahuitl and Naginata)

Halberd: Not many changes, damage and durability slightly modified. (now it requires 2 ingots worth in total)

New content info:

Machete: Bush knife's ancestor (old model from previous version reused)
Follows the same concept as the Bush knife, has better durability and tool speed than a knife, but it cannot be used to craft anything. But as a key difference, this tool is slightly worse at that job than its niece, so in exchange it has slightly more damage, range and durability, making it a very flexible and well rounded tool/weapon.

Battle axe: War axe's brother (same model but with only 1 blade)
Considerably cheaper to craft (doesn't require two ingots) and it performs quite similarly to the vanilla Falx sword, but with an added bonus of durability and range. In exchange it has a weaker attack tier (further monitoring for balance adjustments)

Shotel: Khopesh' ancestor (uses a slightly modified verson of the old Khopesh model)
Technically works like a Falx sword, but it has slightly more reach and higher Damage tier to bypass armor more easily; but in exchange it has slightly less durability and damage.

Estoc: Rapier's sister (uses a modified version of the Rapier, now it has a slightly longer blade, handle and an S shaped guard than a basket)
In contrast, this weapon has slightly more range and damage than the Rapier, but in exchange it is more "frail" than it, though it only requires 1 ingot in total to be crafted.

Cross sword: Spatha's twin sister: (old Bastard sword/Enlongblade model)
Works just like the Spatha in every way, only difference comes with its visual design (given that they are pretty identical design wise I found it suitable)

Vanguard Halberd: Halberd's ancestor (as it might imply, it uses the old Halberd model but with some minor adjustments)
Just like with the Cross sword, this weapon works exactly like the regular Halberd, it only offers a visual alternative, which is pretty good if you want a simpler looking weapon.

Almost all weapons had their sizes in tool racks, first person, third person, etc. Readjusted to match a certain size and look good in any place (Some polearms in toolracks may clip as they are really long, but its either that or an item with an inconsistent size)

Complete list of all stats from every weapon, so you can compare their damage, durability, range and quality tier

Possible/Planed changes for the future:

- Full compatibility with Combat Overhaul/Armory (I have to understand its code for it to work properly, it'll take some time)

- Add more weapons. (this is just a possibility)

- Include weapons/model variants within the mod itself that seem to be either scrapped or unreleased.

- Make weapons from this mod purchasable from traders.

- Allow weapons to be available on ruins (probable compatibility with Better ruins, I'd need to figure out how to do it though)

- Make ruined variants (pairs up with the previous goal)

Known issues:

- All weapons from this mod do not produce any sounds when you swing them as they do not have an actual "Item class" in them as in the original mod; so I should learn some actual code and make that an actual thing (if anyone does have experience with this and wants to give me a hand, dm me through Discord)

If the original author wants me to take down this mod, I'll gladly do it.

If you think something is quite OP, weak or if there is any error from which I might had overlooked, let me know here or in the discord, I may try to fix it as soon as possible.

I might consider suggestions for weapons, but don't expect nothing too fancy, atleast for now.
