It must be installed on the client. Installation on the dedicated server is optional.

Automate your panning.

The Panning Machine is a mechanical device that processes gravel, sand, and bony soil automatically, freeing you from hours of manual panning. Connect it to your power network, set it up near water, and let the machine do the work — while you focus on everything else your world demands.

This mod is designed with balance in mind. The machine is deliberately a step down from hand panning in yield per block, rewarding automation with convenience rather than raw output. It fits naturally into a mid-to-late game mechanical setup without trivialising early resource gathering.

Industrial Panning Machine is the heavy-duty upgrade to the Panning Machine, built for players who have outgrown a small panning station. It is a large multi-block machine that takes in gravel, sand, and other pannable materials in bulk, sifts them with a visible animated sieve, and delivers the results straight into a chest or chutes, with no water source required. Connect it to your mechanical power network, feed it from above, and collect your loot at the front.

It is built for late-game setups where you want a steady, hands-off stream of resources. A buffered output, fewer wasted cycles, and a muddy gravel byproduct that has to be dealt with keep it a machine you plan around rather than just place down.

> How to Use

Setting up the Panning Machine is straightforward:

  • Place the machine in water. It requires contact with water to operate. This can be disabled in the config if you prefer.
  • Connect mechanical power from either side of the machine. A windmill or any other power source works fine.
  • Keep the block directly behind the machine empty. This is required for the water flow mechanic to function correctly.
  • Place a container in front (side with the chute) of the machine to collect the output. Chutes are also supported.
  • Add material to process by right-clicking on top of the machine with a stack of bony soil, gravel, or sand — or simply drop a stack onto it.

Once set up, the machine will display processing info above it. Each block of material yields output 6 times before being consumed. This value can be adjusted in the config. The machine uses the same drop table as the vanilla wooden pan, so any mod that extends panning drops will work here automatically.

Industrial Panning Machine:

  • Connect mechanical power from either side of the machine.
  • Place a container in front of the machine to collect the output.
  • Place a container in back of the machine to collect the waste.
  • Add material to process by right-clicking the machine, or simply add chute input on top.

> Configuration

Panning Machine:

  • RequiresWater — toggle whether the machine needs to be placed in water. [Default = true]
  • MaxPanningProcesses — maximum number of times an item can be processed in the panning slot. [Default = 6]
  • MechanicalResistance — mechanical resistance of the panning machine. [Default = 0.085]
  • SpeedMultiplier — speed multiplier applied to mechanical network speed. [Default = 1.6]

Industrial Panning Machine:

You probably need to delete the config file so the game can regenerate it with all the fields.

  • EnableIndustrialPanningMachine — whether the industrial panning machine can be crafted, placed and can process items. [Default = true]
  • IndustrialMaxPanningProcesses — maximum number of drop rolls performed per fully processed block. [Default = 8]
  • IndustrialMechanicalResistance — mechanical resistance of the industrial panning machine. [Default = 0.085]
  • IndustrialSpeedMultiplier — speed multiplier applied to mechanical network speed. [Default = 1.6]
  • EnableMuddyGravelWaste — whether the industrial panning machine produces and exports muddy gravel waste. [Default = true]
  • MuddyGravelWasteThreshold — number of fully processed items between each muddy gravel waste block. [Default = 16]
  • IndustrialNothingRerolls — how many times to repeat when drop gives "nothing". 0 = disabled. [Default = 2]

> Compatibility

All mods that extend the vanilla wooden pan drop table are automatically supported.

Rejected:
Can Jewelry — shouldn't be automated.

Obviously not compatible with OmniPan. Do not disappoint The Pan.

> Known Issues

  • None. — all good :D

> Planned

When? I don't know.

  • Broader compatibility patches for more mods.
