About this project
What does Scoop of Jam add?
⚠️Caution! When updating this mod from v0.1.0 to v1.0.0 (or heigher), existing jam sandwiches in your world will be lost.
See this guide for more details:
In v1.0.0, all jam sandwhiches ({grain name} Bread with {jam name} jam) have changed their internal code.
As a result, existing jam sandwiches from old version turn into useless black squares (unknown items).

First, take a backup of the world before updating the mod.
Then, you have two options:
(A) Update to v1.0.0, discard the black squares, and get new jam sadwiches in creative mode
The black squares won't break the game. You can just discard them and then obtain new jam sandwiches from the creative inventory.
(B) Play migration version (v0.9.*) first, then update to v1.0.0
v0.9.* has a migration feature that converts old jam sandwiches into new ones, so playing it for a while and then updating to v1.0.0 keep your sandwiches safe.
Note that the conversion doesn't affect:
- Chunks not loaded yet
- Backpacks placed on the ground
For most of containers, such as on the ground or wooden trunks, the conversion should work even if you don't open them.
Technical notes:
- Old jam sandwich codes are `jambread-{grain}-perfect-{fruit}` while new one is `jambread`
- ID remapping can't be applied since the game can't remap multiple old codes to single new one
- As for the conversion feature in v0.9.0, old sandwiches technically "dry into" new ones
Sorry for inconvenience!
⚠️From v0.9.0, this mod needs Attribute Rendering Library (ARL) to work. The game usually auto-download the dependency, but some issues might happen:
The game's auto-download might not work properly in certain cases, at least on 1.21.6.
If multiple mods are depending on ARL and you haven't installed ARL yet, the game installs multiple ARL files.
https://github.com/anegostudios/VintageStory-Issues/issues/8062#issue-3912976120
This shouldn't cause actual errors since the game says it loads the newest version, but the game still emits warnings for the duplicated install.
I recommend installing single version of ARL manually.
Or, after the auto-download, remove the duplicated install manually (usually the latest one will work, so remove the others).
Tested ARL versions for this mod: v2.3.0, v2.8.0, v2.8.1
Overview
This mod adds a new tool jam spoon, which lets you scoop jam from cooking pots and crocks.
Scooped jam can be used to make jam sandwiches and jam pies.
This mod also make peanuts grindable into peanut butter.
You can make PB&J from bread, scoop of jam, and peanut butter!
Scoop of jam and peanut butter are valid ingredients for the sandwich from Dana Can Cook by Dana.
Usage and Crafting
First, craft a jam spoon using a knife and some sticks.

Next, right-click a jam-filled cooking pot or crock with the spoon.
You'll obtain two scoops of jam from each serving.
* The pot or crock must be on the ground. If it's still on a shelf or on a firepit, take it down to the ground first.

Scoops of jam can be put in pies:

Also you can craft jam sandwiches:

Tips
- Jam spoons can be stored in tool racks.
- Scoops of jam spoil twice as fast as jam stored in a pot or crock, so it would be better scooping right before use.
Note
Current technical limitation for scooping jam:
- The cooking pots or crocks must be on the ground.
- The two fruits in the jam must have the same nutrition value. For example, Red Currant-Pomegranate jam can be scooped because both have 80 nutrition, while Red currant-Cranberry jam cannot (80 and 60).
- The jam must be a vanilla jam. It can't include modded fruits, nor come from modded recipe (e.g. 2 fruits and no honey).
Among these, "equal fruit nutrition" and "vanilla recipe" limitation can be ignored to allow scooping anyway, by /soj strict-jam-check 0 command.
However, this may cause nutrition inconsistencies, for example, gaining two 200-nutrition scoops from a 320-nutrition jam.
Use this option only if you accept these inconsistencies.
Features
Peanut Butter, PB&J
Peanuts are now grindable into peanut butter:

Now you can make PB&J!

Dana Can Cook by Dana is your best friend!
Scoop of jam and peanut butter from this mod are completely valid ingredients for sandwiches :)

Enjoy!

Commands
Server side
/soj strict-jam-check [0/1]
Passing 0 disables strict checks before scooping.
See Usage and Crafting > Note section for more details.
Compatibility Notes
Dana Can Cook by Dana
Fully compatibe, as described above.
Expanded Foods by l33tmaan, Pursec
From my testing, both mods can co-exist without issues.
They don't seem to bother each other.
However, they are not integrated yet, for example:
- Scoop of jam or SoJ peanut butter can't be used in EF meals
- EF peanut butter can't be used to make SoJ PB&J
- EF breads can't be used to make SoJ jam sandwiches
In the future, scoop of jam may be usable in EF meals such as flavored yogurt.
Food Shelves by SONZINA
Compatible: all storages that can store bread can store jam sandwiches and PB&J as well.
Mods adding fruits
They should co-exist with this mod, but jam made from mod fruits can't be scooped.
Mods changing jam recipe
In most cases, you can scoop jam as long as it uses vanilla fruit, after running /soj strict-jam-check 0.
See Usage and Crafting > Note for more details.
