About this project
What does Seraph Leveling add?
OVERVIEW:
This mod allows your character to dynamically gain traits by performing actions. Every base trait in the game is obtainable. Every negative base trait is removeable.
Do you love playing as Clockmaker but hate the melee debuff? Pick up a sword and start fighting.
Do you love playing as Blackguard but hate the ranged debuff? Pick up a bow and start shooting.
Do you love playing as Tailor but hate... well, all of the debuffs in singleplayer? Time to get to work!
Every trait in the game is improvable or acquireable. Examples:
-Mining: Mine stones with different pickaxes.
-Melee: Deal damage with different weapons.
-Clothier: Equip twenty different new types of clothes (and then you can craft sewing kits and tailored gamboised armor as a commoner)
-Armor: Wear new types of armor to increase armor durability and reduce the armor walk speed penalty
-Technical: Repair 5 translocators
-Hunger: Eat hearty meals and stay at full saturation to slowly reduce your hunger rate
And many more!
DESIGN:
This mod heavily incentivizes making different or unusual types of weapons and armor. For example, in mining:
-Each pickaxe tracks its own requirements independently. Mine 100 stone blocks with copper for +1%, then 200 more for another +1%. Switch to tin-bronze and mine just 100 blocks for +1%. But when you switch back to copper, it still needs 300 for its next bonus (progress doesn't reset). So craft many different pickaxe types and rotate through them as requirements increase!
(Melee levelling works the same way)
This incentivizes making unique types of tools, like a black bronze pickaxe to get that last +5% mining speed you need.
It also gives classes that start with a bonus, like Blackguard, a natural bonus in leveling too. It is much easier to reach the 150% mining speed cap as a Blackguard than as a Hunter. So if you're playing Hunter, you'll need a lot of different pickaxes and you'll need to spend a lot of time in the mines. But you will get there eventually.
In the endgame, every class is equal.
CONFIGS:
Every skill has a cap (changeable in the config).
By default:
-Mining is capped at +50% speed
-Melee is capped at +50% damage
(etc)
TESTING:
-"/trait" to view your traits.
-"/trait mining" to view your mining specific stats
-"/trait mininglevel 25" to set your mining level to 25 and increase your mining speed by 25% (this will reset per-pickaxe progress)
-"trait rangedlevel 50" for another example, this time of how to set your ranged level to 50%
ROADMAP:
-The main mod is now done and stable. There are occasional mod conflict bugs. There may be a few vanilla issues still, but they are small and/or visual
-Optional config settings for: Skill decay over time, skill decay on death, skill buff after sleeping, different class maximums (currently working on this)
--Important: All of these are off by default and won't affect the typical vanilla run
-Compatability patches (Combat Overhaul, Ancient Armory now finished!, Butchery, Player Model Lib)
UPDATES:
-Now compatible with Combat Overhaul/CO Armory and Ancient Armory! Up next, Butchering (thanks to ArgualLeothon), and then Ancient Armory and Player Model Lib.
I have tested this mod extensively and played it for a few weeks on a server with friends. But if you find any issues, please let me know below!
