About this project
What does Beam Tweaks add?
Overview
Overlapping beam starts/ends is often necessary to create fancy builds.

But also some issues often happen:
- A beam's end jumps when placement is completed
- A beam's end attaches to another beam's start (hitbox), preventing overlap
- Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't

This mod solves these issues by removing the ability for beams to attach to another beam's hitbox.
With this mod, beam starts/ends can overlap reliably.

Also, for VS 1.21.6, this mod also contains a backport fix from VS 1.22.
This should reduce some weird behavior when removing beams.
(In vanilla, breaking a beam's hitbox can break an apparently unrelated beam. With this backport, it should always break one of the beams actually connected to the hitbox)
Tips
Q. Can't find beam hitboxes
This is a vanilla issue.
- A beam's hitbox is located at its start and is a small cube.
- Try switching the active item/block in your hotbar to another one. Beam hitboxes often appear after that.
Q. My beam is still floating/leaving a gap during placement
A beam's end floats in the air during placement if there's no surface to attach.

When you try to attach a beam to a block behind another beam, it's easy to miss the actual surface of block, since it's hard to see.
Please make sure you are targetting the block surface accurately.
Q. My beam behaves weirdly
Beam behavior is already weird in vanilla.
Please make sure your issue doesn't happen in vanilla and only occurs with this mod installed.
If so, report the issue according to the Help/Contact section.
Because of the nature of the topic, it should be hard to describe an issue only with texts.
A video showing what you are trying and what's going wrong should help (I'd say it's even required in most cases)
Known Vanilla Issues This Mod Doesn't fix
- Beam hitboxes sometimes do not appear
- The simple steps described in the Tips section usually fix this, so not a major issue. It's unlikely this mod will fix it.
Possible Features
I personally believe the ability for beams to attach to another beam's hitbox is completely unecessary, so this mod just removes it.
But if you have a use case that requirs it, I might consider "switching modes" feature, so please let me know.
