About this project
What does Entity Resync Fix add?
Entity Resync Fix
Entity Resync Fix is a mitigation mod for Vintage Story 1.22.x designed to reduce common multiplayer desync symptoms seen by some clients.
The mod focuses on cases where the world appears partially out of sync for a player, for example:
- duplicate or “ghost” player entities,
- frozen nearby entities,
- floating or misplaced dropped items,
- other local client-side desync symptoms affecting nearby entities.
How it works
The mod uses a lightweight server-to-client snapshot system for nearby entities. The server periodically sends reference data to affected clients, and the client corrects obviously desynced nearby entities when needed.
For ghost players, the mod performs duplicate detection and removes invalid extra player entities using server-authoritative player entity references instead of relying only on local client state.
Current behavior
- Removes confirmed duplicate player entities on affected clients
- Applies position-based resync only where it is appropriate
- Skips player-like and excluded entity codes from unsafe position resync
- Includes cooldowns to prevent repeated resync spam on the same target
- Supports configurable logging and resync thresholds
- Automatically recreates outdated config versions when the config schema changes
Configuration
The mod generates a JSON config file automatically. The config includes timing, scan radius, duplicate confirmation count, resync thresholds, exclusion filters, cooldowns, and logging options.
When the config structure changes between releases, outdated configs are automatically replaced with the new default version. Valid current configs are preserved and are not recreated every launch.
Important notes
- This mod is a mitigation, not a guaranteed engine-level fix for every desync case.
- It is intended for servers and players affected by intermittent entity desync issues.
- For best results, install it on the server and on the clients that experience the problem.
- The mod is focused on nearby entity correction and duplicate-player cleanup.
Recommended use
This mod is recommended for multiplayer servers where some players occasionally report:
- seeing a stationary clone of another player,
- nearby entities frozen in outdated positions,
- item drops or entities appearing incorrect only for specific users.
Compatibility
Made for Vintage Story 1.22.x (requires game 1.22.0 or later). Rebuilt on .NET 10, matching the game’s runtime starting with the 1.22 series. For older versions (1.21.x and below), use the legacy 1.0.3 release.
Disclaimer
This mod does not replace official engine fixes and does not directly rewrite core game networking. Its purpose is to reduce visible desync symptoms and improve playability in affected multiplayer sessions.
