About this project

What does Orrukin add?

Support Me on Ko-fi! Support me on Ko-fi!

Orcs with extra flavor! Their concept and presentation is from a personal worldbuilding project by me (Greybones/Guttertongue).

A little bit of lore for them is in the spoiler dropdown below, but if you just want to use this as a way to give yourself something playable that can work as orcs/ogres/tieflings/etc that's totally fine by me, and the customization options are there for it!

‼️ Required Mods: ‼️ Player Model Library

( and therefore also Overhaul Library and JSON Patches Library )

OPTIONAL COMPATIBILITY:

-
Highly recommend using Dark Vision to improve the experience of playing Vakkir!

- Use Config Lib if you'd like to toggle stats off to make this mod cosmetic-only. Stats are meant to be unintrusive enough to pair with most existing classes, but may not balance with everything.

( Config Lib also allows enabling of a "master" Orrukin model if you simply want all the customization options in one playable model without stats, instead of having them split between tribes. )

You will have to .charsel again to see the config changes on an existing character.

UPDATE 1.2.0: Fixed hitboxes (no more swimming in 1-deep water), did some stat balancing, added beards, added compatibility for Dark Vision, and some new customization options in existing categories! See changelog below for full details.

Stat values may be adjusted further after testing.

EDIT: please update to 1.2.1 asap - fixed crash caused by riding animations for elk/horse/etc.

Please see "roadmap" dropdown for planned additions, including future compatibility with other mods.

💠 Orrukin Lore:

Description and trait list for each type
I'll keep it short, but I wanted to provide some context for why they're designed with the options they are.

As a species, they're heavily immersed in blood magic, and use the blood/lifeforce of creatures they hunt to modify themselves. You'll see different traits appearing in them physically depending on location of their settlements and the sorts of creatures they honor with this practice.

Orcs with fewer visible beast-traits are said to be more closely connected to their more ancient ancestors, while those with more often gain unique abilities or physical aspects related to the creature they're linked to through blood.

Rootblood:  Those who present fewer visible features of the creatures of the land are said to have a strong tether to those that came before blood magic. Hardy and usually rather large.

Favored Strength: +6 max HP, -60% armor walk speed affectedness, -40% armor durability loss.
Ancient Hunger: +10% hunger rate, +20% damage taken from hunger

Huldakir:  Those who protect the land - the most numerous and varied. Prioritizing social connection and community.

Land Guardian: +20% to animal, forage and wild crop loot drops.
Contemplation: -10% mining speed, +10% animal harvesting time

Aegruni:  The shore people. Fishermen, hunters, sailors and shipwrights - they have come to know the waters in ways no other people of the land could.

Seaborn: +30% swim speed, water breathing
Carnivore: +30% nutrition from protein, -20% nutrition from grain, -20% nutrition from vegetables

Kamhut:  The mountain people. Prospectors, pathfinders and survivalists. Often reclusive, but amongst their own kin they keep knowledge of resources few others can access.

Survivalist: -20% hunger rate, +8 degree warmth bonus
Travel Light: +10% armor walk speed affectedness, -20% max saturation

Vakkir:  Shadow-walkers. They are said to have an intrinsic connection to "another world", and be able to slip into the shadows to move unnoticed.

Shadow-walker: +20% walk speed in darkness, +50% healing rate in darkness, -30% damage taken in darkness, +30% sneak speed, -20% creature detection range.
Light-Scalded: -50% healing rate in light, +30% damage taken in light

(!!!OPTIONAL!!!) Shadow Sight: Compatibility with Dark Vision, makes navigating the darkness easier so you can make full use of your vakkir perks!

🌟 Features:

- Most Vanilla hairstyles (including lore location extras and a couple unused from the vanilla assets. Toggled a couple of these off due to graphical bugs). Beard/moustache options have been cut to prioritize visibility of tusks as a species feature, may add certain ones back in later. All vanilla haircolors.

- Varied custom skintones, body paint, and "markings" options that let you add spots/stripes/scales/etc.

- Eyes/mouth/brows options separated into different dropdowns for more variety/combos. A few new brow shapes added.

- Eye expressions have been further customized a bit from vanilla, and are available in round or slit pupil style

- Additional character options like tails/horns/face scales

- Each type of orc has some minor thematic stat bonuses ( please feel free to give feedback on these! If something seems too little/too much or if you notice any of the stats are not working, let me know! )

Because of the amount of options, you'll have to scroll down in the character creator to get to all the hair/voice/etc options, sorry about this! Scale-creep was too powerful for default GUI size.

Should be mostly compatibile with stuff like CO or things that add additional animations or clothing/armor, as much as any other size-scalable seraph-body-based playable is.

🐞 Known Issues:

- larger tusks clip through most masks. I haven't decided if I am bothered by this.

- if you .charsel between types, you will have to relog for stat changes to apply.

- some elements of the newer hairstyles do not properly hide with hats.

- server or world must be restarted to apply changes like turning traits off.

- since beards were newly added, existing characters may be assigned a random beard. use .charsel to adjust!

💗Accolades💗:

- Maltiez for the fantastic work on library mods that make work easier for the rest of us.

- The besties for testing/tolerating the number of progress screenshots I sent.

- Quinn for building this world with me for too many years.

📍 Roadmap:

Planned future features
- scars and piercings (will mostly limit to face for visibility)

- a few custom animations on certain emotes/actions for the subgroups

- more "extras" options, more bodypaints

- compat with Racial Ability/Equality (waiting for update), compat with Valkyrja's hair styler

- broader body option

📝 Legal:

Asset use, Maintaining, etc.
- The Orrukin as presented for their worldbuilding project are (c) to me, Guttertongue/Greybones

- That said, PLEASE feel free to use the included assets in this mod (custom eyes, brows, ears, tails, etc etc) in your own projects. They're meant to be broadly applicable to things outside of my niche little creations. All I ask is you credit Greybones as the source for those assets, please have fun!

- If you want to fork this to add stuff like breast compatibility, go for it. I just didn't want to deal with refitting clothing/modded armors for this particular project and I'm personally ok with the simplified look of the default VS player model.

- If I kick the bucket or disappear, someone else is welcome to maintain.
