About this project

What does Expanded Foods: Chef's Tricks 1.0.0-dev.3 add?

DO NOT USE THIS MOD WITHOUT EXPANDED FOODS: CORE INSTALLED!!!

Every chef has a few survival tricks up their sleeve! This mod adds a few items and techniques to help expand your options once you've got an established settlement.
They all rely on either items from EF: Core or processing methods from A Culinary Artillery to function. Check them out!

Every kitchen needs more salt! And for enterprising minds, salt can be found anywhere - just look to the waters. You DO live near some kind of saltwater, right?

Salt crystals come in two varieties: Damp, and Dry.

Damp salt crystals, are made by sealing saltwater or brine into a barrel for 10 days straight. At this point, they will dry out on their own in 14 days... or you can bake them in an oven to immediately turn them into-

Dry salt crystals, your final stop before reaching Salt City. All you need to do now is grind them up in a quern!

Enjoying all that delicious birch and maple sap? Mad that you keep walking past resin in your local pine forest? Worry no longer!

Grab your closest spile and stab that pine tree! Don't worry about the tree and get in there!

Now place a good liquid container underneath. The bigger the better!

During most of the year, liquid resin will seep into your liquid container. Give it 10 days to dry, and finally...

Break your barrel or dump your bucket/bowl/whatever out onto the ground to get your resin! Just make sure it's actually dry before you dump it out! You generally need about 0.7-1 L of liquid resin in order for it to harden into 1 resin item.

Have you ever said to yourself: "I have so much flax I don't want to eat, and my poor elk is so hungry!"? Did you go on a bender and make 64 slices of fried chicken and you have too many breadcrumbs leftover? Feed two birds with one stone and convert your breadcrumbs to animal feed, and clear up your storage space! It's done in the crafting grid, so it's nice and easy!

Look there, in the chicken coop... powdered gold! Or better than gold... lime! After you've cracked 100 eggs to prepare for your upcoming party, you've spread so many eggshells over your crops that they can't handle anymore. What to do next?

Grab those eggshells and put them in a barrel with some water. Give 'em a good wash!

Now just take your washed eggshells and grind 'em up! It's that easy. Enjoy the lime!

Oil's great for cooking, but why stop there? Historically, it's been used for so much more. Don't limit yourself!

Use it to oil your animal hides!

Make mechanical parts - anything that uses fat can use oil instead!

Assemble candles!

Light your home!

This is a pretty specialized mod so I am unaware of any special compatiblity or incompatibilities outside of More Animals. The eggs from that mod will dispense eggshells that work with Chef's Tricks.

FOR MOD MAKERS: If you have a mod that used to interface with any of these items, they will need to be updated to use the new 'efchefstricks' domain! Feel free to let me know if you have questions or issues, or if you want me to feature your mod here.
