Tactile:Ore

Tactile:Ore transforms every ore in your world (vanilla or modded) into a genuine physical object embedded in the rock. Mine it or dig around it, detach it, and watch the blocks fall and scatter.

About this project

What does Tactile:Ore add?

alt text

Ore has always been a textured cube. Tactile:Ore makes it something you can see, reach and break apart.

Every deposit in your world becomes a cluster of real, three-dimensional fragments emerging from the rock, each one unique. Nothing is modelled by hand:

  • the shape of a deposit comes from the type of ore it holds,
  • its surface is taken from the texture of the item you get when mining it,
  • and blocky veins are reshaped on the fly into clusters that look like they formed naturally.

What you see surfacing is what you harvest.

Breaking it out

Mine a fragment directly, or dig all around it and watch it break loose from the rock and fall.

Nothing teleports into your inventory. You pick up what you pried out of the stone.

It works with the world you already have

The mod does not generate ore. It reinterprets what your world already generated, so rarity, depth and distribution stay exactly as they were — in existing worlds as well as new ones. A rare ore stays rare.

Modded ores are handled automatically, with no list to maintain: an ore the mod has never seen still gets a deposit that fits it.

Compatibility

  • Custom dimensions are fully supported.
  • Optimized to keep its performance impact to a minimum.
  • Tested in heavily modded environments: ATM11, The Aether, Terralith, Biomes O' Plenty, Chunky, Distant Horizons.

Save safety

The original ore is remembered block by block. Removing the mod puts your world back exactly as it was, without losing a single ore. A backup is still good practice.

Display option

An optional setting, off by default, regenerates the 2D icons of mined items so they match what you just pulled out of the rock.
