About this project
What does Immersive FX Reborn add?
ImmersiveFX Reborn
ImmersiveFX Reborn is a modern re-imagination of the environmental audio experience provided by classic Minecraft ambience mods, with a particular focus on the ideas and systems found in Dynamic Surroundings.
The mod is primarily focused on sound, using biome, weather, terrain, blocks, entities, equipment, and player movement to create a richer and more responsive audio environment. Complementary visual effects are used where they naturally reinforce that atmosphere rather than forming a separate effects system.
ImmersiveFX Reborn is built around modern Minecraft systems and does not require an external core library.

Ambient Environment
Environmental ambience changes with the world around you, helping different places and times feel distinct without overwhelming Minecraft's existing soundscape.
Biome, terrain, surroundings, and time of day can all influence the sounds you hear. Forests, plains, deserts, caves, coastlines, and other environments each have their own character, while nearby features such as vegetation, campfires, and other environmental elements can add more localised sounds.
Underground areas also have their own atmosphere, giving caves and enclosed spaces a different character from the surface.
Ambient Wildlife
Wildlife sounds are shaped by the surrounding habitat, adding occasional signs of life that help different places feel more distinctive and alive.
Forests, plains, mountains, lakes, coastlines, woodland edges, jungles, and warmer grasslands can all attract different calls and activity, from birds and insects to animals such as elk and loons. The sounds are chosen to suit the surrounding habitat rather than playing everywhere.
Wildlife sounds are intended as subtle environmental accents, appearing naturally rather than forming a constant background loop.
Weather
ImmersiveFX Reborn can replace Minecraft's rain and thunder sounds with richer alternatives that better suit the surrounding environment.
Weather also reacts more naturally to shelter and depth. Rain and thunder are reduced when you are indoors, underground, or otherwise protected from the elements, helping exterior weather sound like it belongs outside.
Footsteps & Footprints
Footstep sounds change with the surface beneath you, giving different materials their own character as you move through the world.
ImmersiveFX Reborn recognises a broad range of vanilla and modded surfaces, including natural terrain, wood, stone, metal, glass, vegetation, sculk, and wet ground. Jumping, landing, mounts, and other movement can also add their own sounds where appropriate.
On suitable surfaces, movement can also leave a subtle visible trace, with footprints that linger briefly before fading over time.
Cave Dust
Subtle cave-dust particles can appear in suitable natural underground environments, helping caves feel more atmospheric without spreading into man-made structures.
The effect is intentionally restrained and is designed to remain visible both with and without shaders. Particle spawning reacts to player movement so that travelling through an area does not leave obvious empty regions behind.
Nearby exposed heat sources can influence the dust, producing gentle convection around sources of warmth.
Configuration
ImmersiveFX Reborn includes an extensive client-side configuration, allowing the soundscape and complementary effects to be tailored to personal preference or modpack needs.
Ambient sounds, weather, footsteps, movement and entity effects, cave dust, footprints, volumes, and other individual features can be adjusted or disabled independently.
Most players should be able to use the defaults, while the additional controls are there for those who want to fine-tune the experience or resolve compatibility issues.
Debugging
ImmersiveFX Reborn includes an optional F3 diagnostic overlay for modpack development and compatibility testing.
When enabled, it can display useful environmental information to help identify how the mod is interpreting the current surroundings.
Mod Compatibility
ImmersiveFX Reborn is designed to work naturally alongside modded blocks, biomes, environments, and seasons wherever possible.
Support for commonly used mods is included where additional handling is needed, while broader compatibility allows many modded environments to fit into the existing soundscape without specific integration.
Mods that substantially alter Minecraft's sound system may overlap with some ImmersiveFX Reborn features, and compatible behaviour is used where possible to avoid the two systems competing.

ImmersiveFX Reborn is All Rights Reserved except where otherwise stated.
The project includes selected third-party assets from earlier open-source Minecraft mods and other credited sources. Those assets retain their original licences.
Relevant third-party notices and licence texts are included with release builds.
