About this project

What does TD LeaderBoard add?

TD LeaderBoard

TD LeaderBoard transforms the standard multiplayer player list into a server-authoritative statistics leaderboard. It provides a compact ranking while holding TAB and a detailed full-screen interface for browsing and comparing player statistics.

Features

  • Replaces the standard TAB player list with a compact live leaderboard.
  • Opens a detailed full-screen leaderboard with /tdleaderboard.
  • Ranks players by deaths, on-foot distance, or total travel distance.
  • Supports ascending and descending sorting.
  • Allows players to choose which statistic columns are visible.
  • Provides pagination with up to 50 entries per page.
  • Can include known offline players in the ranking.
  • Displays stable ranks with deterministic tie-breaking.
  • Automatically refreshes live statistics.
  • Stores each player’s display preferences locally.
  • Includes English and German translations.
  • Provides responsive layouts, status messages, tooltips, and screen narration.

Available Statistics

Deaths

Uses Minecraft’s standard minecraft:deaths statistic.

On-Foot Distance

Combines the distance travelled while walking, sprinting, and sneaking.

Total Distance

Combines travel on foot with swimming, climbing, falling, flying, Elytra travel, movement through water, and supported vehicle or mount travel.

Minecraft stores distances in centimetres. TD LeaderBoard displays them as readable metre or kilometre values without modifying the original statistics.

Online and Offline Players

Connected players are ranked using their current server-side statistics.

When the server starts, TD LeaderBoard reads existing Vanilla statistic files in the background. An offline player can appear only when the server has both a readable statistic file and a locally cached player name for that UUID.

Offline players can be enabled or disabled from the full-screen leaderboard. Ranks are recalculated to match the selected player pool.

TD LeaderBoard does not contact external profile services. Unreadable statistic files or unresolved player profiles are skipped without preventing the remaining leaderboard data from loading.

Server-Authoritative Design

All statistics, ranks, and player identities are calculated and validated by the server. Clients only select presentation options such as sorting, visible columns, and whether known offline players should be included.

The mod does not modify Vanilla statistics or world data, does not load chunks for rankings, and does not require a database or external statistics service.

Requirements

  • Minecraft 1.21.1
  • NeoForge 21.1.249 or newer within the 21.1 release series
  • Java 21
  • TD LeaderBoard installed on both the client and server

The same TD LeaderBoard version must be installed on both sides. Version 1 does not support server-only installation.

Supported NeoForge versions are 21.1.249 or newer, but lower than 21.2.

Installation

  1. Install NeoForge for Minecraft 1.21.1.
  2. Place the TD LeaderBoard JAR in the mods folder of every client.
  3. Place the same JAR in the server’s mods folder.
  4. Fully restart the client and server.

No additional mods or external services are required.

Usage

  • Hold TAB to display the compact leaderboard.
  • Run /tdleaderboard to open the full-screen view.
  • Select a metric to change the sorting column.
  • Change the sorting direction between ascending and descending.
  • Toggle known offline players.
  • Choose which metric columns should be displayed.

At least one metric column must remain visible.

Client Configuration

Display preferences are saved in:

config/tdleaderboard-client.toml

By default, deaths, on-foot distance, and total distance are visible. The leaderboard is sorted by deaths in descending order, and offline players are hidden.

Current Limitations

  • No economy, account balance, or TDEconemy integration.
  • No external databases or web-based statistics.
  • No server-wide configuration for individual display preferences.
  • Client and server must use matching mod versions.

Support

When reporting an issue, please include:

  • TD LeaderBoard version
  • Minecraft version
  • NeoForge version
  • Whether the issue occurred on the client, server, or both
  • Relevant log messages
  • Steps required to reproduce the problem
