About this project

What does Fodderfold add?

Fodderfold

A Feeding Trough: fill it with food and grown animals that are ready to breed come and eat. The young never do.

What it does

  • Fill a Feeding Trough with food and grown animals within 8 blocks that are ready to breed walk over and eat.
  • It works like feeding them by hand: each one eats a single item, falls in love and finds a partner.
  • Young animals never eat from it, and neither does an animal that has just bred.
  • Herd limit: once 24 grown animals of a kind stand around the trough it stops breeding them, so the pen never fills up and lags.
  • Nine slots, any food, and hoppers can keep it filled. It shows hay when it holds food.
  • The young grow up faster: babies near a trough with their food in it grow three times as fast, without eating any of it.
  • Comparators read how full the trough is.
  • Eggs and scutes your animals leave lying around are gathered into the trough; a hopper under it takes those out and never the food.
  • Hurt animals walk to the trough and eat to mend, two hearts a bite, at any age.
  • Redstone pauses it: power next to the trough stops the feeding.
  • Hay bales: put hay in the trough and it opens one bale into nine wheat whenever the wheat runs out, so a full trough lasts nine times as long.
  • Herd count: sneak and use the trough with an empty hand, and chat lists the animals around it by kind, with how many are grown and ready to breed.
  • Milking: put empty buckets in the trough and a grown cow or mooshroom nearby fills one with milk every half minute.
  • Wool regrows: a shorn sheep near a trough with wheat in it eats and grows its wool back at once.
  • Sniffer finds: torchflower seeds and pitcher pods a sniffer digs up near a trough are gathered into it like eggs.
  • Hurt count: sneak-use on a trough also counts the hurt animals around it.

Needs

  • Minecraft 26.3, 1.21.11 or 1.21.1 with Fabric Loader + Fabric API, or with NeoForge. Pick the file for your version and loader on the Files tab.
  • Installed on both the client and the server (it adds a block)
