Lua Performance is a client-side optimization mod for Minecraft 1.21.1 on NeoForge 21.1.250, originally created to help friends enjoy the Somake Network modpack with smoother performance.
Its patches were developed by investigating performance profiles from the modpack, targeting repeated calculations, rendering overhead, interface slowdowns, and specific sources of stuttering.
Features
Rendering optimizations: reduces repeated work in supported versions of Iris, Armourer’s Workshop, Clavis, and other mods.
Video and browser improvements: configurable texture update limits for WaterMedia and MCEF, browser cleanup for supported Somake menus, and background player preparation for supported WaterFrames versions.
JEI on demand: choose when to initialize JEI using a Load JEI button in the inventory.
JEI startup improvements: reduces repeated enchantment support checks and biome registry preparation in supported JEI and Just Enough Resources versions.
Visual controls: optional limits for particles, shadows, equipment, block entity rendering, and Flywheel visuals.
Configuration profiles: presets, individual settings, and profile import/export with a preview of incoming changes.
Customize your experience
Some optimizations preserve the original appearance. Others improve performance by reducing effects or hiding selected visuals.
The configuration screen explains what each option affects, helping you choose the balance that suits your computer and preferences. Hiding visuals does not disable the underlying machines or their server-side operation.
Compatibility and installation
Designed primarily for the Somake Network modpack, with patches targeting specific supported mod versions. Results vary depending on your hardware, settings, and installed mods.
Supported integrations do not automatically become required dependencies.
Install on the client using Minecraft 1.21.1 and NeoForge. Replace any previous version before updating.
Lua Performance aims to reduce specific bottlenecks. It does not guarantee higher FPS or eliminate every loading pause, shader cost, or source of stuttering.
