MC-Networking
Build, configure, and simulate realistic IP Networks, Devices and Protocols in-game.
Quick answer
Which MC-Networking release should I use?
MC-Networking v1.1.2-26.2 targets 26.2 with Fabric. Installation on the client is optional. Installation on the dedicated server is optional. All 1 required mods have matching files.
Where it goes
Is MC-Networking required on the client, server, or both?
Installation on the client is optional. Installation on the dedicated server is optional.
The source marks this as usable on both the client and server.
What else does MC-Networking v1.1.2-26.2 need?
v1.1.2-26.2. Change the file and its required mods may change too.
Install Fabric API first. We found matching files for this game-version and loader setup.
We only count dependency files that match this setup. A file for another loader does not fill the gap.
Before you install it
Add MC-Networking without breaking your instance.
Built for MC-Networking v1.1.2-26.2. Pick another file and the loader, install side or required mods may change.
- 01
Stick to this file
Use v1.1.2-26.2. It targets 26.2 with Fabric; another release may have different loader, side or dependency requirements.
- 02
Bring the mods it needs
Install Fabric API first. We found matching files for this game-version and loader setup.

Put it on the correct side
Installation on the client is optional. Installation on the dedicated server is optional.

About MC-Networking
MC-Networking is a Minecraft mod created to simulate real IP networks, devices and protocols within the game.
This mod was created with a dual goal: to provide an interactive teaching tool to learn networking and to integrate the
potential of IT networks into the mechanics of the game world.
How does it work
The mod introduces to the base game new blocks that represent the hardware devices, and new items that represent the
network cables used to physically link the devices.

By interacting with a networking device, it is possible to configure and diagnose it thanks to a custom CLI, emulated
within the game interface.

Current Features
The project is still under development. As of now, the following has been implemented:
Networking devices:
HubSwitchRouterHost(The end devices, currently simulated up to ISO/OSI layer 3)
Networking engine:
- Simulated server synchronised packet forwarding, with interfaces’ exit queues and transmission and propagation
times. - Encapsulation and decapsulation of the payloads between layers.
- Simulated server synchronised packet forwarding, with interfaces’ exit queues and transmission and propagation
Protocols:
ARPfor MAC addresses resolution.ICMP
Main CLI commands:
hostname: to set a device's hostname.interface: to manage network interfaces (e.g.,eth0,lo).ip: to configure the network interfaces' addresses and the default gateways on the hosts.show: to inspect configurations, ARP caches and routes.pingandtraceroute: to diagnose your networks.

Come funziona
