About this project

What does OreVeil add?

What it HOPEFULLY does
Intercepts chunk data right as it's sent to clients and camouflages host rock as randomized fake ore look-alikes, so an x-ray/overlay tool sees a chaotic mass of noise instead of real ore locations. The real world data is never touched - only what's sent over the network changes.

*current iteration entirely works for the first few loaded chunks for a handful of ores.  working on continuing this as chunks are loaded and for additional ore types*

⚠️ Important behavior note
Unlike typical anti-xray mods, this camouflages ALL host rock, not just hidden/buried rock. Exposed rock on mountainsides, cliff faces, and cave walls will also show the fake-ore texture noise. This is a deliberate design choice, not a bug - it means the underground/surface will visually look different from vanilla at all times, not just when digging.

Optional: hiding valuables
Can also camouflage specific, exact-matched blocks (e.g. a ruins-only loot chest) via config. Left empty by default - see the warning in the config file before adding anything, since most chest-like blocks are player-placed and this would hide a player's own storage the same way.

Configuration
Generated automatically on first run.

Requirements

Server-side only - no client install required
  Vintage Story 1.22.3+

Can be modified to add additional blocks to be blocked but that will remain as a WIP for now
