Wilderlands Ethology is an entity and behavior overhaul mod for Vintage Story, developed for the Wilderlands community server.

This module expands the game’s wildlife — especially aquatic life — and reworks animal behaviors to create more immersive and more challenging hunting encounters.

Core Features

Behavior Adjustments

Wild animals behave more realistically and more dangerously.

Examples include:

• Sheep, deer, and goats now have a wider fleeing range.

• Wild pigs are more aggressive and drop additional fat.

• Wolves have an expanded seeking range and can spawn in snowy regions.

Hunting requires more awareness, better preparation, and sometimes better positioning.

New Creatures

Several new entities have been introduced, many of them aquatic in nature.

Terrestrial Additions

• A mountain goat variant that prefers snowy terrain.

• A new snow-adapted sheep variant.

• A bearded “dragon” — a large lizard that lives just underground.

Aquatic Additions

A significant expansion of marine and freshwater life, including:

• Numerous fish species

• Freshwater and saltwater stingrays

• Jellyfish

• Eels

Most new entities are functional and use appropriate behaviors, though some polish is still ongoing. They are being released now in preparation for an upcoming Wilderlands server launch.
