About this project
What does Wilderlands Waymarkers add?
Wilderlands Waymarkers
The Wilderlands modules seek to expand the space between intention and achievement. In Vintage Story, there is no final win screen — only the paths we carve through resistance. These modules give weight to stone, danger to the deep, and tension to survival. The monument may stand visible, but the struggle to raise it is where the story lives. Make it a good one.
Wilderlands Waymarkers does not increase danger — it helps you navigate it. Designed for mapless and exploration-heavy play, it provides physical tools for marking routes, claiming paths, and finding your way home.
Cairns
Primarily intended as navigation markers, cairns also include several functional features:
-
Tools and certain items can be leaned against them
-
Flat-top cairns can support:
-
Lanterns
-
Oil lamps
-
Even fire pits
-
-
Larger cairns can integrate into fencing systems (fences connect to their solid sides)
- Cairns can be crafted from all rock types.
Buoys
Three varieties are included:
-
Bag Buoys – Crafted from oiled hides
-
Wood Buoys – Standard floating markers
-
Lantern Buoys – Crafted like wood buoys but include a lantern for nighttime visibility
Ideal for marking:
-
Coastal routes
-
River paths
-
Dangerous shallows
-
Harbor entrances
Known Issue
The lantern texture is missing in the handbook recipe display for lantern buoys.
Important notes:
-
The recipe works correctly.
-
Lantern buoys render properly in-game once crafted.
-
This appears to be a vanilla texture issue related to lantern usage in recipes.
-
There is currently no mod-side fix available.
- Functionality is unaffected.
Compatibility
Compatible with:
-
Geology Addons
-
Material Needs: Geology
- All Floral Zones wood types (At least, I think all of them. That I could identify planks for, anyway.)
