Covert Classes

This mod is a WIP, that being said I do not recommend adding it to an existing server, if you are already using GlooMeClasses or Rustbound Magic this WILL break things. If you really want to add it to an existing server you would need to download version 0.3.0

About this project

What does Covert Classes add?

This mod is a WIP, that being said I do not recommend adding it to an existing server, if you are already using GlooMeClasses or Rustbound Magic this WILL break things. If you really want to add it to an existing server you would need to download version 0.3.0 and then have ALL of your players switch to my classes (even if they're commoner as GlooMeClasses doesn't use the vanilla commoner and neither do I), after doing that you can update from 0.3.0 to 0.3.1 or any version past 0.3.0.

On a new server this shouldn't cause any issues (if you're using v0.3.1 or higher)

If you would like to see these classes in use, these classes (and likely any of my other mods) are used on the Covert Paradise server.

Right now the mod is WIP and mainly uploaded for testing purposes. If you do use it however, it's intended to be used with GloomeClasses, Rustbound Magic, and Combat Overhaul. Also has support for Trait Aqcuirer Revamp and xSkills When I plan on fully releasing this I will update the description more.

A brief description before I actually write one is this is a class mod that uses traits from both gloomeclasses and rustbound magic to create new classes. It is meant to be a rebalanced class replacement mainly for use on the Covert Paradise server.

In the future this mod will likely include even more classes than it currently has as well as new traits for trait aqcuirer.

Requirements
- GlooMeClasses
- Rustbound Magic
- Overhaullib
- Combat Overhaul

Design Philosophy

Personally I really enjoy some of the traits that Gloome has come up with, but I also really wanted to try my hand at making my own classes with my own style of balance. This was the solution for both, I keep using some of the traits from Gloome I like, plus one from Rustbound Magic, then I blend them with Combat Overhaul traits and my own traits which as of now are just variations of vanilla traits. I wanted a fantasy/dnd theme for classes so class names are based on DnD 5e.
Balance:
Balance is a tricky subject for any game, there's always something stronger or weaker than the other. The aims to shift how balance is done in Vintage Story. Most class mods do something like +30% ore drop rate on one class, but -30% ore drop rate on another, not this one. What that ends up doing is punishing the people who want to play solo and limits them to either being nerfed on resources or just playing commoner. A big reason for this is most servers are going to use multiple mods that can change the balance of things, using the classes to balance everything will only work for so long imo. Every class still has somewhat unique positive traits (some share a trait, for example some of the more combat oriented classes have a 30% dmg buff, some also have class exclusive recipes), but every class shares 2 of the negative traits (armor affects walk speed 10% more and -3.5hp) the 3rd negative trait on every class is determined by their weapon proficiencies (this is why Combat Overhaul is required since it is the entire basis of the balance). Using Combat Overhaul as the basis for balancing means I can balance in ways other than reducing ore drop rates, most classes will have 4 weapon proficiencies, the ones with less tend to be more skilled in their fewer weapons. An example of the balance is if a class has a quarterstaff proficiency, they have a negative trait for every other weapon (aside from spears/slings as they are very early game weapons and would be very unfair to a player starting out)

Classes:
I need to update this with a proper list, but for right now expect there to be a class for any type of job. There's classes for farmers, chefs, lumberjacks, miners, etc. You're not losing out of having any job oriented classes by using this mod, in fact I think things are enhanced even more due to the DnD theme I went with since the majority of classes now are capable magic classes recieving the Enlightenment trait from Rustbound Magic.

This is not a fork of any mod, this is purely a content mod leveraging traits that GlooMeClasses, Combat Overhaul, and Rustbound Magic come with. This does replace the classes that come with both GlooMeClasses and Rustbound Magic though so if you're looking for addon classes, this is not the mod for you. As of right now this mod will never drop the GlooMeClasses or Rustbound Magic requirements as the code for their traits is still within their own mods and to move them into this mod would be theft, even replicating the features with my own code would not feel right.
