1.0.6 on 1.22.3. Every mod below is checked against that same setup.

About this project

What does Biodiversity: Orchards add?

Biodiversity is a major Vanilla+ expansion to plants and flora in Vintage Story

The Biodiversity mod suite aims to provide more farmland crops, trees, wood types, flowers, grasses, herb plants, and more, while retaining near Vanilla game mechanics and high compatibility with other major mods.

A long term goal is to allow for a player to travel the world and always find new plants or materials to use, or a server to use the Biodiversity mods to build up trade networks of exotic flowers, woods, and herbs.

This is planned to be a community effort, with many modders contributing their skills and talents to provide the Vintage Story community with as much new flora as we can, in a manner that looks like the developers themselves could have added it, works out of the box with as many other mods as possible, and optimized as much as possible to prevent excess lag on older machines or large servers.

Roadmap for post 1.0.0 will be posted in our discord soon.

KNOWN ISSUES

There is an occasional crash that occurs when using this mod with Salty's Falling Trees mod.  This is a conflict and it is not recomended to use both at the same time.

We have a google sheet to track vanilla plants and new plants we plan to add.

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1DSflqYeqSKZ-PeEkNVx4ao97eF45oN4ZAl6lHjhVilo/edit?gid=1078305057#gid=1078305057

We are looking for people to help with:

  • getting a wiki setup on all the types of plants
  • finally talented modelers and texture artists to make the plants, flowers and trees we want to provide the community in 1.22 and the 1.0 release!

Share this mod page around with your friends and server mates, we want to reach as many plant brained modders/artists as we can!

Future Roadmap

General plans

Full Expanded Foods and A Culinary Artillery Support.

Full support for Terra Prety world gen

Look into cutting the need to use herbarium or eliminating any herbarium related issues while keeping it. (I am in contact with the current maintainer of Herbarium in this regard)

Possible future support for the biomes mod (we do not have plans for this, but we will welcome PRs to add support to our mods)

Possible support for other major farming mods (Until a farming mod pulls out of the pack as a definite leader, we do not plan to add support on our end)

We do not plan to ever add any of these as required dependencies or force you to use any of these mods to be installed for the Biodiversity Suite to function. We welcome other modders making expansions to Biodiversity, or adding their own features, but we aim to keep it possible to play with no other mods and still have a well polished, Vanilla+ experience.

Potential Future Content

Additional Fruits

Additon of more fruit varieties.

Addition of nut trees (maybe)

Still undecided if we're doing nuts
