BotaniaStory
I’m ending my activity as a modder on VSMods due to what I consider discriminatory treatment from the site administration Even though my mod thumbnails do not violate CSAM laws and are not NSFW content, the administration required me to completely remove anime
Quick answer
Which BotaniaStory release should I use?
BotaniaStory 0.5.2 targets 1.22.0-pre.1, 1.22.0-pre.2, 1.22.0-pre.3. It must be installed on the client. Installation on the dedicated server is optional. No extra mods listed for this file.
Where it goes
Is BotaniaStory required on the client, server, or both?
It must be installed on the client. Installation on the dedicated server is optional.
This release supports both sides, but the source does not require it on the server.
What else does BotaniaStory 0.5.2 need?
0.5.2. Change the file and its required mods may change too.
This file does not list any required mods. Do not add a library just because a different file uses it.
We only count dependency files that match this setup. A file for another loader does not fill the gap.
Before you install it
Add BotaniaStory without breaking your instance.
Built for BotaniaStory 0.5.2. Pick another file and the loader, install side or required mods may change.
- 01
Stick to this file
Use 0.5.2. It targets 1.22.0-pre.1, 1.22.0-pre.2, 1.22.0-pre.3; another release may have different loader, side or dependency requirements.
- 02
Bring the mods it needs
This file does not list any required mods. Do not add a library just because a different file uses it.
- 03
Put it on the correct side
It must be installed on the client. Installation on the dedicated server is optional.
- 04
Pick the file you checked
Use the “Get this file” button beside 0.5.2. It opens that exact file at the source.
About this project
What does BotaniaStory add?
I’m ending my activity as a modder on VSMods due to what I consider discriminatory treatment from the site administration Even though my mod thumbnails do not violate CSAM laws and are not NSFW content, the administration required me to completely remove anime characters from my mod thumbnails because they are not directly related to the mods I consider this discriminatory because there are many mods on the site whose thumbnails do not always depict something directly related to the mod or the game itself They were simply mascots that, in my opinion, made the mod thumbnails more varied and interesting In any case, I consider the administration’s requirement completely legitimate - their site, their rules - but for me personally, this is unfair treatment that I am not willing to accept toward myself

🌿 BotaniaStory - Nature Magic Comes to Vintage Story! (Alpha Release)
Introducing BotaniaStory - a fan-made recreation and adaptation of one of the most beloved and unique tech mods dedicated to nature magic.
The core concept of the mod revolves around creating magical flowers and complex automated devices powered by the force of the earth in the form of mystical energy - Mana. The mod fits perfectly into the harsh world of Vintage Story, offering a completely new layer of gameplay and progression
Behold what is perhaps the hardest Vintage Story server yet.
If you're tired of survival that's basically "baby mode," then welcome. A real challenge awaits you:
- Your journey begins in the Far North.
- No map - only a sextant and a compass... if you can find one.
- You start with only 5 HP.
- Monsters are smarter and deadlier. Shivers run faster and can climb walls.
- Boarthorns no longer retreat during combat, and their attacks hit much harder.
But the server isn't just about suffering. It's packed with carefully selected mods that I chose with great care. And if there's a mod you'd love to see, let me know—I might add it.
Most importantly, there's a goal beyond simply surviving. You can travel south, where daytime temperatures average around 15°C (59°F). That's where you'll find all the story locations and the rest of the game's content.
No starter resources, no spawn, just you, your clothes, and the freezing cold! Prepare to suffer! Sounds awesome, doesn't it?
Pack your camp, begin your journey south... and see if you can survive.

✨ What Is Already Included in Alpha
This is an early version, but a full and functional starting progression of the mod is already available:
🌸 The Beginning of the Journey
- Find wild Mystical Flowers (If you install this mod in an already existing world, Mystical Flowers will only generate in unexplored chunks)
- Craft the BotaniaStory Lexicon using parchment and any tree seed to begin learning everything about the mod
- Create the Petal Apothecary
- Create your first functional and generating flowers
- Begin meditating to turn ordinary flowers into Mystical Flowers
- Search around oak trees for rare roots used in magical crafting

🌿 Basic Nature Magic
- Pure Daisy transforms stone into Livingrock, and wood into Livingwood
- Decorative blocks available: Livingrock bricks, ancient bricks, Livingwood planks, and their ancient variant
- Jaded Amaranthus – a functional flower that creates Mystical Flowers
- Hopperhock – catches dropped items and transfers them into chests
- Agricarnation – accelerates the growth of nearby crops by consuming mana
- Wardbloom – creates a protective barrier around itself. Creatures and projectiles cannot pass through it, and hostile creatures cannot spawn inside the protected area. Players can be allowed through using White Filter Scrolls
- Floral Fertilizer – crafted from Mystical Flowers. Can be used to grow new Mystical Flowers and fertilize soil to accelerate crop growth
- Mystical Flower Pollen – obtained by grinding flower petals in the Mortar and Pestle from the Alchemy mod
- Meditation – sit near soil, clear the grass from it and press N to create Mystical Flowers
- Overgrowth Seed – a rare magical seed that prevents flowers from withering
- Overgrowth Seeds can also be discovered inside farming vessels
- Overgrowth Seeds can be used to create enchanted soil and flower beds for magical plants
✨ Mana Generation
- Dayblooms for passive generation
- Endoflame for automation through fuel
- Arcana Rose – consumes your temporal stability in exchange for mana
- Hydroangeas – generates mana by absorbing water from nearby water sources, including diagonally adjacent sources
- Narslimmus – generates mana using moonlight
🪶 Equipment & Artifacts
- Winged Tiara – allows the player to fly freely
- Black Hole Talisman – stores an unlimited amount of a chosen block
- Rod of the Seas – allows you to create water, fill cooking pots and other compatible containers, and take water from compatible sources just like with a bucket
- The Rod of the Seas also has a second mode capable of creating rapidly flowing water for mechanisms such as water wheels
- Flower Pouch – stores an enormous amount of flowers inside a single container
- Meadow Seed – spreads fresh green grass around the planted area
- Peat Seed – transforms soil into peat
- Medium Fertility Soil Seed – transforms barren soil into medium fertility soil
- Hovering Hourglass – sends a signal to mechanical devices, activating them at a time interval set by the player (currently only works with the Mechanical Item Dropper)
- Crafting Halo – allows recipes to be prepared and crafted semi-automatically
- Autocrafting Halo – automatically crafts configured recipes when the required ingredients are available
- The Halo system also supports an additional transformation during progression
- Manasteel Magnetism Ring – attracts nearby dropped items to the player
- Terrasteel Magnetism Ring – a stronger version with a greater attraction range
- Ring of the Reaper – attracts nearby items and can pull loot directly from defeated creatures
⚙️ Logistics and Storage
- Bind devices using the Wand of the Forest
- Use the Mass Binding Wand to connect many generating flowers to nearby Mana Spreaders at once. When multiple spreaders are available, flowers are distributed between them as evenly as possible
- Store mana in Mana Pools
- Carry energy reserves in the Mana Tablet
- Use Sparks for instant mana transfer between pools
- Magnetism Lens – gives Mana Spreaders magnetism-related functionality and is also used in the creation of Magnetism Rings
- Mechanical Item Dropper for automation
- Floating Island – allows planting flowers on a floating island
- Item Filtering – use Black and White Scrolls to configure which items can be processed by the Hopperhock
🔥 Spark Augments
- Dispersive - charges the Mana Tablet directly in the player's inventory
- Recessive - sends mana to other pools
- Dominant - pulls mana from all linked pools
- Isolative - blocks mana input into the pool
(I honestly don’t know why it’s needed, since you could just not place a spark 😅 if you know a useful use case - let me know)
🔮 Advanced Progression
- The Runic Altar is fully functional
- Alchemical Catalyst – allows simple material transmutation using mana
- Conjuration Catalyst – duplicates certain items when infused with mana
- The Mortar and Pestle can also be duplicated through the Conjuration Catalyst

🧚 Pixies
- Pixies can appear while the player is wearing a full set of Elementium armor
- Pixies can heal their owner
- They can also attack nearby enemies and help during combat
🌌 Alfheim Trade and Elven Resources
- Use the Portal to Alfheim to exchange mana-infused items for elven materials
- Available trades:
- Livingwood → Dreamwood
- Mana Quartz → Fairy Dust
- Mana Gear → Dragonstone
- Mana Glass → Elf Glass
A new progression step that unlocks rare decorative and magical resources
🌍 Terra Stage
- Now you can craft the Terra Shatterer! Go flatten some mountains!
- Added the Terra Altar
- Added Terrasteel armor and tools
- Terrasteel has properties similar to Manasteel, but unlike Manasteel, Terrasteel armor passively regenerates mana in the tablet
⚔️ Gaia Guardian
- Fight the Gaia Guardian, a major boss encountered during late-game progression
- Build the ritual arena and use the Beacon to begin the Gaia ritual
- Gaia uses dynamic loot, providing different rewards after the battle
- Gaia can drop rare resources, including Gaia Spirits and Overgrowth Seeds
- Create Enhanced Terrasteel to summon a more powerful version of Gaia
🛡️ Equipment
- Infuse metal with mana and obtain Manasteel Ingots
- Create a full set of mana armor and mana tools
- Mana equipment self-repairs using mana stored in your inventory
- Mana armor also reduces mana consumption when using mana-powered equipment such as the Winged Tiara, Terra Shatterer and magical rods
- Added Elementium tools and Terrasteel tools
- Added a full set of Terrasteel armor
- All Elementium and Terrasteel equipment repairs itself using mana stored in the player's inventory

🛠 Development Status
The mod is currently in active alpha development. Core mechanics of magic, crafting, logistics, progression and boss encounters are already functional. There is still plenty of content ahead: more complex devices, magical equipment, flowers and late-game progression!
Since the mod adds many complex interfaces and custom renders, you may encounter minor bugs. Please report them in the comments or on GitHub/Discord.
