About this project

What does Grinding Wheel Rework add?

Grinding Wheel Rework expands the vanilla grinding wheel to support more tools and turns sharpening into a lightweight repair system.

Sharpening no longer removes current durability; instead, each grind step restores 20 durability while permanently reducing the tool's maximum durability by 5.

  • so maximum durability is reduced by 25% of the repaired amount of durability, giving worn tools a way to stay useful a little longer at a long-term cost
  • tools with a max durability below 20 will get destroyed, so keep that in mind when trying to repair a gold scythe or something of low durability

The mod also adjusts buffs by tool role: mining tools can gain mining speed, combat tools keep their vanilla-style crit bonus, and utility tools can be repaired without receiving an extra combat buff.

A buff will last for 25% of the tool's max durability. The buff can be up to 10% (so a bonus of 10% mining speed is possible).

Keep in mind that not all tools can be repaired because grinding a hammer for example doesn't make any sense.

If you don't like the settings you can also edit the ModConfig file with the repair values that fit your individual needs.

In the modconfig file you should also be able to add modded weapons and tools, but you need to know their identifiers.

Compatibility:

- Toolsmith (needs a little testing on your part, but should work)

- Stone Quarry and Stone Quarry Standalone Repack

- Chisel Tools and Chisel Tools Lite

Also check out my other mods, like the one for sharpening arrows on a grinding wheel.

I read all your comments and will look into compat with "combat overhaul weapons" and "armory fork" soon. I will also change the crit bonus to damage bonus, as it makes more sense for the weapons.
