Where it goes

Is LockInteract required on the client, server, or both?

It must be installed on the client. Installation on the dedicated server is optional.

Client Required
Dedicated server Optional
Loader for this release Built-in Vintage Story mod system
Required install it here Optional supported, not mandatory Not supported do not install here Source doesn’t say do not assume

This release supports both sides, but the source does not require it on the server.

What else does LockInteract 1.1.1 need?

1.1.1. Change the file and its required mods may change too.

No extra mods listed for this file

This file does not list any required mods. Do not add a library just because a different file uses it.

Carry On Optional for LockInteract 1.1.1
optional
Matching file found Matched file: 1.13.0
Overhaul lib Optional for LockInteract 1.1.1

We only count dependency files that match this setup. A file for another loader does not fill the gap.

About this project

What does LockInteract add?

Let's be real. Locks in vintage story? Pretty damn strong.

In a real life scenario, you would not lock every single block and chest and door in your base. Because it would be absolute hell to find your keys and lock/unlock those 50 billion locks every time

With this mod, you too can experience a simulated scenario of searching for your keys and trying to get it in the lock, every time you need to leave your house.

Config:

{
"Enabled": true,
"HoldTime": 0.8,
"ApplyToPersonalLocks": false,
"UseManipulationSpeed": true,
"ManipulationSpeedWeight": 1.0,
"BlockCodeAllowList": ["game:door-*"],
"BlockCodeDenyList": [],
"ShowProgressOverlay": true,
"PlayCompletionSound": true,
"ShowHoldHint": true
}

Which means that ONLY the doors that are locked to a group require you to hold down interact. Your personal locks and containers, or your communal chests do not get affected.

ApplyToPersonalLocks = Decides if your personal/non-group locks require holding down interact

You can customise your experience by changing which types of blocks trigger this system or not, with the Allowlist and Denylist options.

(If you want to torture yourself, empty the AllowList config, and turn on ApplyToPersonalLocks. Now ALL locks require holding down interact!)

Compatibility:
CarryOn: With the X.0.1 release: We now have better compatibility with CarryOn. The mod will defer interaction to CarryOn's own delay if you are holding something in your hands (I considered an additive approach also, but that would have been a lot of work for a small gain)

CombatOverhaul: With the X.1.0 release, if you have overhaullib/CombatOverhaul installed, you can now use the UseManipulationSpeed and ManipulationSpeedWeight values in the config to have the user's manipulation speed stat affect the interaction duration. (Note, with the X.1.1 update, the weight is now unclamped, so you can set it to something like 5 if you wish)
