About this project
What does Seasonal Flowers add?
"Don't you just hate it when you can see a flower blooming in the dead of winter?"
What does this mod do?
This mod is purely visual. Flowers now have a life cycle that is entirely based on local temperature. This system allows you get altitudinal gradients, microclimates, on top of seasonal change.
Some areas bloom for longer than others. Some areas might not be conducive to certain flowers at all. A rafflesia can't grow in Antarctica in real life, so why should it be able to grow there in Vintage Story?
The different types of flowers also behave differently to one another, some will bloom in Spring, others in Summer.
Flowers start in a green vegetative state, slowly gaining energy to produce blooms. Once the flower is ready, it will begin blooming for a period of time. Once it gets too hot, it will die back. By the time winter arrives, the flowers have already begun their long slumber, waiting for the next year to bloom once more.
Made with mod compatibility in mind.
- Flowers change appearance based on the local temperature rather than a calender.
- Per block temperature sampling, so flowers in the same field can be at different stages.
- Four flower stages: hidden under snow, green vegetative stem, bloom, and dieback.
- Flowers blooms once per year and won't bloom again until a full winter resets it.
- Per flower configurable thresholds for each stage (vegetative, bloom, too hot, hidden).
- Works with modded flowers, especially those that seperate flowers between petals and stems in textures.
- Vanilla visuals with minimal performance overhead.
- Optional config option: Bees can only use flowers that are actually in bloom (defaulted to false, so you'll have to enable this one in the config).

Try Deciduous Trees, another mod that is based on local temperature, but this time for leaves.
Try K's Realistic Farming, a mod that allows crops to bolt, perfect for rapid farming expansion.
Special thanks to Kaisentlaia for not only coming up with this idea, but also providing the textures required to make it.
Q: Is it safe to add or remove this mod in existing saves?
A: Safe to add or remove at any time. Purely visual.
Q: I don't like when X flowers enters a stage, can I change it?
A: Yes, the config allows you to change when all 4 stages are triggered individually for each flower, you can also add modded flowers there.
Q: Is this compatible with mods that add new flowers?
A: Yes, mods structured in a flower/petal/image folder format should recieve full support! Even if the mod doesn't separate textures between petals and stems, the flowers will go dormant in winter. You can also add modded flowers to the config manually to tweak the times at which they flower.
Q: But this mod makes Common Gorse look funny in spring, fix it.
A: Our mod only hides petals and is working as intended. It's on the other mod to separate actual petals from the leaves of the plant. If one of the flowers are not to your liking, add it to the config and set it so it's always flowering. We won't make our own texture for you nor display favoritism towards any other mod by adding it to ours.
Q: Are bees able to use flowers as food even if they aren't in bloom?
A: Yes, however, there is a config option defaulted to FALSE that only allows them to find flowers in bloom for food.
