About this project
What does Flashlight & Batteries add?
🔦 Flashlight & Batteries
Tired of squinting into the darkness? Light it up.
What is this?
Flashlight adds a proper, handheld flashlight to Hytale — not some janky torch you slap on a wall and pray, but a (kind of) directional beam of light that actually follows where you're looking.
Hold it. Aim it. The dark stops being a problem. And if the given batteries don't provide enough energy, have a look at Thorium batteries!
⚠️ A note on "directional" lighting: Hytale's engine doesn't actually support directional light — it's not a feature the game exposes. This plugin fakes it by placing invisible light blocks along your line of sight. The result is pretty convincing most of the time, but you might occasionally see light blinking or disappearing. Other flashlight plugins for Hytale have hit same issues and come to the same conclusion. It's a workaround, not magic!
How it works
| Feature | Detail |
|---|---|
| 🔦 Handheld light | Equip the flashlight in your hotbar or off-hand |
| 👀 (kind of) Directional beam | Light projects where you're looking — look down a cave tunnel and it lights up ahead of you |
| 🔋 Batteries | Runs on Battery items. Two batteries per reload, auto-consumed from your inventory |
| ⏱️ Battery life | One full charge lasts ~2 real-time minutes of continuous use |
| ♻️ Auto-reload | When the flashlight dies, it automatically grabs fresh batteries — no clicking required |

FAQ
Does it work in multiplayer? Yep. Every player gets their own light, fully independent.
What happens when I switch items? The light turns off. The flashlight only shines while actively equipped.
Can I use it as a weapon? …It's a flashlight. But hey, at least you'll see what's about to eat you.
Do batteries drain from my backpack too? Yes. The flashlight will pull batteries from your hotbar or inventory.
Made with ☕ and a healthy fear of the dark.
