About this project

What does Qolaxis add?

Qolaxis by Lorewound

Qolaxis makes Hytale nicer to play without making it easier to win: it changes how the game feels, not what anything is worth. Healing that comes back between fights, a clock, the name and health of what you look at, your weapon's damage before you swing it, arrows that come back, chests that sort themselves. One mod in place of a handful of small ones.

Requirements

Hytale version 0.7.x
Other versions Not for 0.6 or 0.8: the server does not load it there.
Side Server (and single player). Nothing to install on the client.
Dependencies None. Reads creature levels from MMO Mob Scaling, and helps LifeCrops Automation and VeinMining, when they are installed.

Install

  1. Put Qolaxis-<version>.jar into your server's or world's mods folder.
  2. Start the game. The log shows Qolaxis <version> ready.
  3. If you used any of the mods Qolaxis replaces (listed under "Good to know"), remove them.

What it does

Feature What it does
Healing out of combat After 10 s without taking damage, health comes back at 1 % every 2 s.
Sleep heals Waking from a full sleep in a bed fills the health bar.
Clock A small line at the top of the screen: the time (24- or 12-hour), the day, a sun or a moon.
HUD sizes The top HUD and the damage HUD each come in 50, 75, 100, 125 or 150 %.
What you look at Its name and the mod it comes from. Creatures and players get their health beside the name and a bar under it, their distance, level, attitude (hostile, neutral, passive) and effects. Below: the tool a block wants and whether yours breaks it, what it drops; a crop's growth stage and whether its soil is watered; what a creature resists and drops, with the chances. The box fits its text; long lines go on to the next row. Health bar only and Show drops trim it further.
Item tooltips Item level, mod, the bench that makes it, how many recipes use it, mining tier, the ores a pickaxe breaks and the ones it is too weak for, armor resistances. Worked out once at start: no cost while playing.
Damage and defence Bottom left: the held weapon's damage per hit, read from the weapon so you can compare before a fight; your measured DPS once you have fought; your armour's defence.
Any arrow in any bow Every bow and crossbow shoots every arrow, from the game or from other mods. Better arrows hit harder: 1 % per item level above the Crude Arrow (Iron +11 %, Trueshot +66 %).
Crossbow keeps its load Put a loaded crossbow away and take it back: its bolts are still in it, even after logging out.
Arrows come back An arrow that hits drops at the creature's feet; one that misses comes back when you walk within 3 blocks, and stays 10 minutes. From any bow, modded ones too.
Item magnet Items within 14 blocks (4 to 32, your pick) fly to you, through walls and corners. Arrows are left for you to walk to.
Auto-sort A chest is sorted when you open it. Your own bags are left as you keep them.
Crafting reach A bench takes materials from chests up to 128 blocks away (32 to 256, your pick), and never from machines (fuel slots, furnaces, pipes).
Benches relight Turn a furnace (or a smelter, or an ore crusher) on once and it lights again whenever it has work and fuel, until you turn it off.
Off-hand follows the hand A sword, axe, club or crossbow brings your shield out; a tool swaps it for a torch.
Gear comparison A weapon, armor piece or tool's tooltip says in green or red whether it beats what you use in its place; armor lists each difference on its own line. Works for modded items too.
LifeCrops harvesters With LifeCrops Automation: Auto Harvesters pick Hytale's own herbs too, and one that 0.7.5's block search misses works again.
Hand refill Run out of the stack in your hand and the next stack of the same item takes its place.
Vein mining under water With VeinMining: hold Walk or Crouch under water and veins break as on land.
Owned count At an open bench, each thing it makes tells you how many you already have: in your bags, nearby chests and placed nearby.
Glass holds things Tables, chests, torches and beds go on glass floors and walls, modded glass too, as on stone.
Trash Bag Right-click to open it beside your inventory, or crouch and right-click to set it down and feed it with a tube. What is left inside is destroyed when it closes.
Sparring Dummy Set it up and hit it: it shows the held weapon's last hit, average hit, DPS and number of hits

Recipes

Both are crafted at the vanilla Workbench.

Item Category Ingredients Workbench tier
Trash Bag Survival 3 Linen Scraps, 2 Fibre 1
Sparring Dummy Tinkering 1 log, 3 Tree Sap, 3 Sticks 1

For server owners

/qolconfig opens a settings page: the sizes and ranges to pick from a list (HUD sizes, clock format, magnet range, crafting reach, chests a bench reads, sleep heal), a check box for each feature below and a SAVE button. Most change at once; item tooltips and glass the next time the world starts, and the page says so. Any arrow in any bow, the crossbow's load and the Sparring Dummy stay on. Only the world's owner or a server admin can use it.

The page writes mods/com.lorewound_Qolaxis/config.json (also written on the first start):

Good to know (beta)

This is a beta. Please report what you find:

  • Multiplayer. Developed and played by one player in single player. Several players are untested.
  • Replaces these mods: Recover Arrows, Target Health, Simply Trash, Item Magnet, Grab From Far, PJ Sleep Regeneration, Offhand Reflex and AutoFurnace. Run only one of each pair.
  • Bows and crossbows. Qolaxis replaces the game's bow and crossbow templates and five of their interaction files. A mod that replaces the same files wins or loses by load order. Bows and crossbows built on the game's templates (More Crossbow Tiers and others) work.
  • Names other mods give in plain text (not as translation keys) cannot be found by mods that search names, such as Where This At's lectern. That is for those mods to fix.
  • Removing the mod. Pick up placed Trash Bags and Training Dummies first; what is left becomes unknown blocks and creatures. A crossbow put away loaded keeps its bolts only while Qolaxis runs.
  • Auto-sort and the magnet can be switched off in /qolconfig.
  • All numbers are playtest values and may change.
