Lunar Nether Neo
Unofficial port of Lunar Nether to Neoforge 1.21.1. Adds the moon, it's the nether's surface!
Quick answer
Which Lunar Nether Neo release should I use?
Lunar Nether Neo - 1.2.0 targets 1.21.1 with NeoForge. The project page does not say whether this file belongs on the client, dedicated server, or both. All 2 required mods have matching files.
Where it goes
Is Lunar Nether Neo required on the client, server, or both?
The project page does not say whether this file belongs on the client, dedicated server, or both.
The source does not explicitly classify this release as client-only or server-only.
What else does Lunar Nether Neo - 1.2.0 need?
Lunar Nether Neo - 1.2.0. Change the file and its required mods may change too.
Install Lithostitched, Patched first. We found matching files for this game-version and loader setup. 7 come through another mod in the chain.
7 extra mods were pulled in by other dependencies. Indented rows show who needs each one. We only count dependency files that match this setup. A file for another loader does not fill the gap.

Mod Features (Ported)
- The Outrocks! A new biome modeled after the moon accessible via digging up to the nether roof!
- A full set of Polished and Cut Polished blocks for Lunar Stone.
- A new ore, Ilmenite! Smelt it for Iron or blast it for Titanium. Titanium also matches Copper's set of building blocks.
- Craters! Small impact craters and large deep carves in the earth containing additional deposits of Ilmenite.
- A clock showing you the current phase of the moon, made from Titanium.
- A stary and crystal clear skybox with a day/night cycle 1/8th the speed of the overworld, matching a single full moon cycle.
- Optional Trimmed compat, adding two new trim materials, Titanium and Raw Ilmenite.
- Optional Stellar View compat disables the above skybox and instead correctly positions the Stellar View skybox above The Nether.
Mod Features (New!)
- Reduced Gravity while in the Outrocks! Default 40%, completely configurable in the mod's config and via tags.
- Slightly improved compatability via injecting the biome with Lithostitched instead of overwriting The Nether.
- Removed hard dependencies on Trimmed and Stellar View, instead listing them as optional dependencies with support.
- Large craters are little bigger and now contain a few Raw Ilmenite Blocks, for texture and additional reward.
- Additional members of the Titanium block family have been ported and finished from an abandoned/unreleased 1.21 branch of the mod.
- Portals no longer spawn on The Nether surface, instead (hypothetically) preserving vanilla behavior and saving the "wow" moment of breaching the surface for the first time.
Planned Features
- Loads of additional configuration options, such as the ability to tweak the skybox or improve compatability with other Nether mods.
- Built in compatability with Jaden's Nether Expansion and Incendium
- A long dormant volcanic biome above basalt deltas, with craters reaching into the nether proper.
- Weak meteors on the surface that create Suspicious Lunar Dust when they land, making some of the resources found on the surface renewable.
Additional Info
- Permission has not been directly secured, but this port, repo, and upload is fully compliant with the MIT license the original mod has been released under.
- Compatability with mods that edit the nether's noise settings and/or surface rules are still questionable, and may require compatability patches or changes to the mod.
- Visual compatability with shaders is likely none. Anything that adds its own skybox and lighting to The Nether will likely completely obliterate the mod's aesthetics. Functionally, everything should still work as normal.
- Special thank you to Uni for worldgen help, Evan for rendering code tips, as well as the Modpack Development Knowledgebase and the Neoforge discord servers for frequent moral and technical support.
- The original authors of the mod (as listed in the mod's .toml file) are: Dhyces, xbxbxb123, hisroyalbaguettes, bonker, and Kayla
- Ports will be made either to the "community consensus" version of Minecraft or whatever I need the mod on, entirely at my discretion.
