About this project
What does MTS/IV Collision Entity Damage add?
MTS/IV Collision Entity Damage
An add-on for Immersive Vehicles - MTS that makes collisions truly dangerous for players and mobs, both inside and outside a vehicle.
Why this mod ?
Immersive Vehicles (Minecraft Transport Simulator) already includes a damage system for entities hit from the outside by a moving vehicle, with fixed values defined on a case-by-case basis in each vehicle's JSON.
This mod builds on that system: it makes damage proportional to the actual impact speed, adds knockback, and introduces a brand new damage system for players seated inside a vehicle that crashes into another vehicle.
What the mod does
Three independent systems, each with its own settings:
- Player inside a vehicle: when the vehicle you're riding actually collides with another vehicle (stationary or moving), you take damage proportional to the closing speed between the two vehicles.
- Player outside: a moving vehicle that hits you while you're not a passenger of any vehicle deals damage proportional to the vehicle's speed, plus a knockback (radial push away from the vehicle).
- Non-player entity outside: same principle as above, but for mobs, with its own independent settings.
- This mod only deals with players or other entities. It does not affect vehicles. — for that, see the companion mod MTS/IV Collision Vehicle Damage.
In all three cases, damage is calculated from the actual max health of the entity hit: a tough mob takes it better than a fragile one for the same impact. A cooldown system, per vehicle/entity pair (or vehicle/vehicle pair for the "inside" case), prevents damage from stacking in a loop while contact persists.
What's configurable
Everything is adjustable in config/mtscollisionentitydamage-common.toml:
| Setting | Description | Default |
|---|---|---|
insideCooldownTicks |
Minimum ticks between two damage triggers for the same pair of vehicles (player inside). | 40 |
insideMinSpeedMs |
Minimum closing speed (m/s) below which no damage is dealt to the player inside. | 10 |
insideDamagePercent |
Percentage of the player's max health lost per m/s of closing speed (inside). | 2 |
outsidePlayerCooldownTicks |
Minimum ticks between two damage triggers for the same vehicle/player pair (outside). | 40 |
outsidePlayerMinSpeedMs |
Minimum vehicle speed (m/s) below which no damage is dealt to the player outside. | 10 |
outsidePlayerDamagePercent |
Percentage of the player's max health lost per m/s of vehicle speed (outside). | 4 |
outsideEntityCooldownTicks |
Minimum ticks between two damage triggers for the same vehicle/non-player entity pair. | 40 |
outsideEntityMinSpeedMs |
Minimum vehicle speed (m/s) below which no damage is dealt to the entity outside. | 10 |
outsideEntityDamagePercent |
Percentage of the entity's max health lost per m/s of vehicle speed (outside). | 4 |
knockbackDistance |
Approximate distance (in blocks) an outside entity is pushed when hit. Set to 0 to disable knockback. | 2.0 |
