About this project
What does Slate Core add?
Slate Core
Beta. An early build of Slate: expect bugs, you can report them on the Discord.
Slate Core is the base every other Slate mod needs. On its own it gives the game's screens, inventories, map mods and Simple Voice Chat one dark look, and lets you edit the layout of any menu. The rebuilt menus are in Slate UI.

Layouts and styles
- Every menu has a layout (Vanilla, Custom or Overhaul) and a style (Slate or Vanilla), and any layout goes with any style.
- A short setup on first launch asks for both, with a live preview. The Menus list sets them menu by menu.
- Custom and Overhaul come with Slate UI. With Core alone the game's menus keep their layout and get a Slate button.

Look
- An accent colour from presets or any colour you type; the default is a deep red.
- Headings in a pixel font, frosted or opaque panels, fades and quiet sounds, each with a switch.
- Chests, furnaces and the inventory get Slate's panels; so do Better Inventory's screens and the settings screens of Cloth Config, YACL and Configured.

Map mods and Voice Chat
- Xaero's Minimap and World Map, JourneyMap and Simple Voice Chat are drawn in Slate's style, or keep their own look.
- Homes, warps and team homes from Slate Server and Slate Teams stand as pins on those maps.

Menu editor
- Switch on dev mode and press F7 on any menu: move, resize and hide its buttons, or add buttons, text, images and panels.
- Added buttons run actions (open a screen, join a server, run a command); text takes placeholders such as
{player}and{fps}. - Layouts are saved in
config/slate/layouts/, so a modpack can ship its own main menu.

Requirements
Minecraft 1.21.1 (NeoForge or Fabric, Java 21) and 1.20.1 (Forge or Fabric, Java 17); on Fabric with Fabric API. Needs no other mod. It goes on the client, and on the server too when a Slate mod that runs there is installed. Take every Slate mod from the same release.
