About this project
What does Wulk's Smithing Addons add?
Warning: this mod just came out of WIP, some things may change in the future. May have visual and crafting issues.
Compatible with:
- Meteoric Steel: check out this beautiful bastard's work.
- ToolSmith: its a must have when i play... been a while since i dont proper play the game tho.
- Boric Alchemy: can use the cast iron processes to make the engine base and alchemical cauldron.
Ever since seeing the models for anvils in the game, as an irl blacksmith and history nerd: they angered me.
Origin of this disgust is the fact that their design is from the industrial revolution and upwards.
So ive decided to take matters on my own hands, and also implement nicer things along the way, hope yall enjoy this mod... been workin on it for at least two months, with custom textures and models, a whole historical bellows (not implemented yet) with custom animations, four metals and more to be added. might not be as impressive as other mods, or interesting, but at least im proud of it, and imma play with it for a long while.
Adds:
=> New models for all the anvils, tools and a way to make steel anvils (which are necessary to work some of the new steels added):
- Ferrous anvils: Of renaissance design, the steel and springsteel ones have a horn attached to the side.
- Cast anvils: They are a rough block of metal, expected of the bronze age.
- Smith hammer: more durable and robust than vanilla hammer.
- Butterfly/Folded Ax: a multi-metal axe, meant for when steels and meteoric iron are scarce, also the only tool thus far that uses springsteel.
- Mattock: multi-tool of axe and hoe, used for working overgrown areas into farmland.
- Cast iron pot: holds 8 servings. requires to be seasoned once extracted from the mold.
- Stump anvil: a tier 0 anvil for working copper. for when resources are scarce.
- Wooden mallet: for early game hammer related recipes, and chiseling.
- Clay brick forges: they look closer to irl forges... they only for the looks.
- Single stage/bladder bellows: big boi bellows, for now just aesthetic, it resembles a historical bellows that would be used in times of yore.
=> New metals:
- Cast iron.
- Wootz (a type of primitive steel, only useful for bladed tools due to its brittleness).
- Stahl (low carbon steel made in a very isolated carburization process).
- Spring Steel (highly durable and tensile, though not proper for a full tool).
=> Allows lime to be a flux.
=> More close to reality metal processing, that takes various steps to make em.
Thanks to:
Degen_Andi: for the help given these last hours on fixin some issues that i would have gone crazy fixin on me own. thanks truly.
TotallyNotASmurf: for jumpstarting the toolsmith compat.
Known issues:
- Tends to crash on metal recipes if smithing plus is installed (me mod was not the culprit).
- dappled groves messes with the smith hammer.
Any issues, feedback or complaints, please feel free to say em here or ping me in the vintage story discord.
