Change Log (click to reveal) v.1.4.1 • Added: SlowTox compatibility — fat level now scales alcohol tolerance (fatter = harder to get drunk) and intoxication decay rate (fatter = longer to sober up). Both effects are tunable via slowToxFatToleranceScale
Quick answer
Which Expanded Stomach release should I use?
Expanded Stomach 1.4.1 targets 1.22.0-rc.8, 1.22.0-rc.9, 1.22.0-rc.10. It must be installed on the client. Installation on the dedicated server is optional. No extra mods listed for this file.
Where it goes
Is Expanded Stomach required on the client, server, or both?
It must be installed on the client. Installation on the dedicated server is optional.
This release supports both sides, but the source does not require it on the server.
What else does Expanded Stomach 1.4.1 need?
1.4.1. Change the file and its required mods may change too.
This file does not list any required mods. Do not add a library just because a different file uses it.
We only count dependency files that match this setup. A file for another loader does not fill the gap.

About this project
What does Expanded Stomach add?
v.1.4.1
- Added: SlowTox compatibility — fat level now scales alcohol tolerance (fatter = harder to get drunk) and
intoxication decay rate (fatter = longer to sober up). Both effects are tunable via slowToxFatToleranceScale and
slowToxFatDecayRateScale in the server config.- Fat level now interacts with SlowTox's intoxication system. Fatter players build up a higher alcohol tolerance,
making it harder to get drunk. They also take longer to sober up, as stored fat causes intoxication to linger longer.- - Both effects are tunable via two new server config values: slowToxFatToleranceScale and slowToxFatDecayRateScale
(defaults: 0.5 each). - - Gracefully disables itself if SlowTox is not installed — no impact on vanilla or other mod setups.
- - Both effects are tunable via two new server config values: slowToxFatToleranceScale and slowToxFatDecayRateScale
- Fat level now interacts with SlowTox's intoxication system. Fatter players build up a higher alcohol tolerance,
v.1.4.0
- Updated to 1.22.0-rc.8
- Major architecture overhaul of entire codebase.
- Included some functional changes as a result:
- Fixed: Eating meals from bowls always required two eating attempts and the process was a bit clunky
- Expanded stomach now absorbs overflow from bowl meals correctly in two situations: (a) the base hunger meter was already full before eating, or (b) the combined base headroom and expanded stomach capacity is large enough to finish the entire bowl in one interaction. This prevents the expanded stomach from silently absorbing satiety on a player's first bite of a large meal before the base meter is even full.
- Each meal ingredient's food category (fruit, vegetable, protein, grain, dairy) is now credited to its own nutrition slot proportionally, rather than using only the first ingredient's category.
- Fixed: Drinking liquids would sometimes fail to apply the correct saturation values or would affect the nutrition values accidentally.
- Each sip's overflow is absorbed into the expanded stomach immediately. Drinking is a deliberate per-sip action, so no gate is applied.
- Liquids with no food category (e.g. plain water from Hydrate or Diedrate) correctly fill the expanded stomach meter without incorrectly crediting nutrition.
- Fixed: Food items would sometimes not properly apply the correct amount to the expanded stomach or would miscalculate health as nutrition.
- BrainFreeze compatibility: overflow is now calculated analytically from pre-eat headroom rather than by comparing saturation before and after. This prevents BrainFreeze's temperature penalty from being misread as expanded stomach overflow.
- A Culinary Artillery / Expanded Foods: expandedSats per-category nutrition is read before the item is consumed (the slot is cleared mid-method), and each category is credited to its own nutrition slot separately.
- Health effects (healing food, poison) are untouched — handled entirely by the base game now.
- Fixed: Hunger drain would sometimes not touch the expanded stomach, especially when affected by other mods.
- Expanded stomach now drains first on every hunger tick, before the base saturation meter is touched. If the expanded stomach can cover the full drain, the base meter is unchanged. If the expanded stomach runs dry mid-tick, the base meter absorbs only the proportional remainder.
- Drain is correctly skipped during saturation-loss delay windows (i.e. immediately after eating), matching the base game's own behaviour.
- Fixed: Fat bonuses to temperature resistance would sometimes not apply correctly due to the calculation getting skipped during a game update.
- Fat level now accurately and consistently contributes up to +10 °C of effective temperature resistance at maximum fat (100%), scaling linearly.
- Fixed a bug in the previous implementation where equipping clothing mid-tick would cause the new clothing's temperature bonus to be silently discarded for that tick. The fat bonus reapplies cleanly on the following tick — a one-tick gap that is imperceptible during normal play.
- Added: Ithania Canned Goods compatibility
- Canned food overflow into the expanded stomach now credits each ingredient's food category proportionally, ensuring a seamless experience.
- Fixed: Eating meals from bowls always required two eating attempts and the process was a bit clunky

- Hunger damage prevented will be tracked and applied once the player has burned 10% of their fat level, before continuing to tick as normal
- Eating a meal and restoring the full 1500 satiety will reset the damage tracker, allowing the player to continue burning fat.
- Fixed a problem with client-side commands crashing the game when used in multiplayer.

Recommended mods for use:
- Hungry While Injured - prevents food from sitting in the expanded stomach for too long, especially with lower regeneration rates.
Overview
Expanded Stomach is a Vintage Story mod that enhances the game's food system by allowing players to continue eating even when their normal Satiety bar is full. This mod introduces a secondary "stomach" system that lets you store additional food beyond your character's normal saturation limit, creating more realistic and strategic eating mechanics.
- Secondary Stomach System: Continue eating after your normal Satiety bar is full
- Drawback System: Overeating can cause negative effects, such as weight gain, which can affect game play over time
- Stomach Size: Your stomach can expand over time based on eating habits
- 7-Day Average System: Your stomach size is based on your average daily eating habits
- Configurable Difficulty: Multiple settings to adjust the mod to your preferred playstyle
- Immersive Messages: Optional in-game messages that provide feedback on your character's fullness
- Mod Compatibility: Designed to work with 'Xskills', 'Hydrate or Diedrate', Vigor, Ithania Canned Goods, SlowTox and SleepNeed. Also potentially compatible with mods that add food items by extending the BlockMeal and CollectibleObject classes.
- Mod Compatibility: NOT compatible with Smooth Digestion mod by Misteyes. That mod overrides the hunger system in a way that is incompatible with how this mod is intended to operate.
- Hardcore Mode: Disabled by default, but will cut stomach capacity in half upon death if enabled(for those wanting more severe penalties).
- Multiplayer Interaction: Looking at another player will show in the info HUD (top of screen) an estimate of the player's fat level. Useful for role play scenarios as well as making fun of your friends for being slow (aka bear food). Also shows who has been raiding the pantry when you weren't looking.
- Download the latest release for your game version from the mod releases page
- Place the .zip file in your Vintage Story mods folder
- Start the game and enable the mod in the mod menu
To properly uninstall the mod and remove all attributes that could affect gameplay:
- Before removing the mod, run the following commands for each player:
/es debug setStomachSize [player] 0.0- Resets the stomach size/es debug setFatLevel [player] 0.0- Completely removes fat
- Remove the mod file from your mods folder
- Restart the server/game
These steps ensure all mod attributes are properly removed from player data, preventing any issues when playing without the mod.

The mod adds several commands that can be used to manage and monitor your expanded stomach. Expand the spoiler to reveal.
/es- Base command for all ExpandedStomach functionality (server-side).es- Base command for all ExpandedStomach client functionality (client-side)
Debug Subcommands
These commands are only available in single player or when run by a server op.
/es debug printInfo [player]- Displays information about a player's stomach/es debug setFatLevel [player] [level]- Sets the fat level of a player (0.0-1.0)/es debug setStomachLevel [player] [level]- Sets the stomach fullness level of a player (0.0-1.0)/es debug setStomachSize [player] [size]- Sets the stomach size of a player (500-5500)/es debug printConfig- Displays the current configuration settings/es debug setConfig [key] [value]- Changes a configuration setting.
Client-side commands
Some of the commands above can also be executed on the client side if you are on a multiplayer server. Use the prefix .es instead of /es.
.es debug printInfo- Displays information about the player's stomach and fat levels..es debug printConfig- Displays the current configuration settings for your client..es debug setConfig [key] [value]- Update the value of a configuration setting without rebooting your client. Example: turning the bar on or off or adjusting it's vertical placement.
- Eating beyond your normal satiety will store food in your expanded stomach.
- Your expanded stomach will slowly transfer nutrients to your normal satiety.
- Overeating regularly will increase your stomach size over time.
- Excessive eating leads to fat gain, which can slow your movement speed.
- Eating too much in one sitting will temporarily slow your movement speed.
- Your tolerance to cold weather will increase in proportion to your fat level.
- Maintain a balanced diet to optimize nutrition and minimize negative effects.
- To finish eating a meal/eat another, use the meal item again within 15 seconds after the first eating attempt. This is no longer necessary in 1.22; the player will eat the full item if possible, and as much of the item as they can if not.
- Stomach size increases/decreases will happen at midnight every day. Plan accordingly!
- Fat can be used to stave off hunger for a short time, at the cost of taking a bigger one-time hit to health if the player waits too long between meals.

Artwork: LadyWYT, Flux Dev Booo, AI bad! There are too many AI-coded mods here. There are real world examples of AI-coded projects destroying entire companies and tanking developers' reputations. I thought the image was funny... and it is. Others clearly did not. I have removed the image and my artist is working on making a real image created by a real artist!
Special thanks to Dana (Craluminium2413) for assistance with the configuration system.
Special thanks to Tyron (Vintage Story lead developer) for including Harmony in the base game, which made developing some of the mod systems significantly easier.
ExpandedStomach was designed with compatibility in mind and works well with:
- Xskills: Designed to adapt to any changes Xskills makes to the satiety system
- Hydrate or Diedrate: Works alongside the hydration mechanics
- Food Mods: Compatible with any mods that add food items by extending the BlockMeal and CollectibleObject classes
- Brain Freeze: Compatible with Brain Freeze by TheInsanityGod
- Vigor: Compatible with Vigor by chrisunfocused
- Ithania Canned Goods: Allows eating directly from can into expanded stomach.
- SlowTox: Fat levels impact intoxication rate and decay.
- SleepNeed: Designed by mod author to be compatible with Expanded Stomach. Please check out their mod and download it!
